The big old yellow metal Tonka trucks!!!!
We used to sit in the dummp truck and push each other down the path, alot better than the plastic rubbish nowadays.
And the Weebles………….with their tree house!!!Those were the days<<<sighs.
30 June, 2012 at 10:03 pm #500188My mother used to make Weebles…we used to get the seconds…I didn’t realise their faces weren’t supposed to be wonky…
I was a bit of a tomboy, probably because I was the only girl in the street until my sister was born, and my favourite toys were matchbox cars. I loved my little VW Beetle that had a wheel on the roof that changed the direction of the front wheels.

When I was 17 and learning to drive, my driving instructor decided to show me the principles of a three point turn using…a toy VW beetle with the wheel on top! It was the same colour as my childhood toy and I had to take it off him and relive my childhood for a few minutes. He looked at me as if I had gone completely off my trolley then dryly asked if I thought I just might be able to do a three point turn in a real car as well as I could with a toy car. I did, perfectly, and wiped the patronising smile off his face!

30 June, 2012 at 10:43 pm #500193My school mates and I were Beastie Boys fans. We decided we wanted the VW badge as it’s what the BB were wearing and of course, a “must have.”
My mate tried nicking one and we got confronted by the biggest, scariest bloke ever. God we didn’t just run, we galloped!
The amount of VWs that had missing badges…
