Well I’m in favour of the general idea of getting the country fitter and healthier. We should be encouraging people to eat healthier food and do more physical activity. In the long-term it’s better for them.

Absolutely agree and this is parental responsibility as far as children are concerned, but it should be integrated into their lifestyles subtly, I dont believe children at the age of 4 need to be aware of how much they weigh or what their measurements are.

As long as they are healthy – look at some rugby players – big guys – fit as feck

Will they be checking them out for sexuality at 4 now too – being gay can be a lot more dangerous than being fat

I’m a wee bit puzzled by all this stiuff about overweight children.

A while ago I recall our beloved Tony Bliar (the Dear Leader) bleating on with soundbite upon soundbite about ending the shame of child poverty in this country etc etc until the tears ran down our faces.

Suddenly they are bleating on and on about child obesity. Er… hello???? Poverty???…. Obesity ???? Surely there must be some mistake.

Maybe we really do need another Government initiative, loads more consultants, a Junior Minister perhaps, and of course a ”Tsar” to take charge of it all and tell us what to do.

Could he be called a ”fat Tsar”???

Poverty goes hand in hand with obesity in a way, healthy foods are often the most expensive to buy for poor families, so they buy cheap highly processed foods which are laiden with fats ect. They are often poorly educated in how to eat a healthy diet.

I think it’s very important for children to learn to eat healthy and exercise. But I don’t think children should be held to standards or given fat tests. I don’t think any child should be made to feel inferior because of what they look like on the outside.

I don’t want to get into the whole ”healthy eating” thing here. But it seems to me that if you are living ”below the poverty line” as our Dear Leader soundbites on about, then logically it would be difficult to find enough food to eat at all, much less eat to such excess that you become obese (as defined).

It strikes me that poverty implies starvation / deprivation, not stuffing your face with so much food over a long period of time that you become like a little butterball.

So I revert to my initial point. Do we really need a ”fat Tsar” or is this simply another pointless and costly ‘initiative’ to divert our attention away from the Government’s increasingly lengthy list of incompetencies???

That’s a good point PB When we think about poverty in Victorian times – we think about starving urchins – Oliver Twist types MacDonalds never seemed to have any effect n them then .

Perhaps a good idea would be to do “Exchange trips ” with say Rwanda – or some impoverished state with starving kids Round up all our fatties – and bus them off there for 6 months – the starving kids can live here for the same 6 months and get some grub down ther necks

    Good for foreign relationships too

That’s a really good idea Drivel. I love it

We could force the fat lazy chav mothers to cook some decent nutritious grub and feed it to genuinly starving children, and do some good for society for a change.

Meanwhile their spoilt little butterballs can see what REAL hardship looks like. No more lazing in front of the TV for hours; no more playing shoot-em-up games on their beastly little gameboys etc; no more demanding pizza or burger & chips from their lardbucket mothers; no more daily trips to McDonalds or the local chippy.

They would rapidly learn to value food and by God they’d lose some layers of lard.

My oldest did start having a problem with her weight tuck shop all that

i soon put a stop to that im a fat f00ker aint lazy work 10 hours a day clean house all that b0ll0x then sit ojn me ar se on here

Till i joind a gym a few weeks ago

I dont agree with weighing the kids at a early age think there is enough problems for them to deal with with out worrieing about there weight

But may i add one thing i think its cheaper to cook real food as i call it meat 2 veg all that than it is to buy all the ready made stuff

ok it might be easer to get it out freezer put in over and done but to peel a few spuds and put a few chops or fish on dont take much longer

And if they do ask for bugers i make me own out of fresh mince taste alot better

and is loads cheeper than going to Mcdonalnds

I disagree, unhealthy food is often cheaper than healthy food. You could probably get a burger from McDonalds for 70p while lean, minced beef would cost you a lot more. Likewise, a can of fizzy drink and a packet of crisps will cost a lot less than a bottle of pure fruit juice and a packet of unsalted nuts. Basically, the healthier you want to eat, the more it will cost you.
