What is it with these girls? Every Christmas some girl seems to falsely shout rape at a Footballers night out.
Now this guy from Emmerdale has had his life turned upside down, his career destroyed, and been to hell and back I’d imagine. Now the girl can stay anonymous, and this guy and his family are left to pick up the pieces.
They should actually chuck the girl in Jail for a year or two, and let her think about what’s she’s done.
17 October, 2008 at 7:48 pm #383275This sort of thing makes it even worse in my opinion. Rape is difficult enough to prove at the best of times, false accusations make a mockery of the real victims. They also make victims of innocent people. Especially when it’s highlighted this way.
I agree that she should face charges – at the very least least wasting police time if nothing else – something to get the message across.
17 October, 2008 at 8:41 pm #383276Let’s face it, any woman in this country can cry rape now thanks to the totally one sided laws. They get drunk, get shagged and cry rape, and the latest laws allow it to be an offence. Live with it, that’s life.
17 October, 2008 at 8:46 pm #383277It isn’t only women who get raped.
17 October, 2008 at 8:49 pm #383278I never did press charges against you…
17 October, 2008 at 8:53 pm #383279You never pressed anything against me :)
But oi.. its no laughing matter, men get raped by men, and they don’t even go to the police. It is too shameful for them.
17 October, 2008 at 8:54 pm #383280I’ve been raped by women and am too ashamed to admit it!
Send on the clowns

I agree with Johnboy.
17 October, 2008 at 9:55 pm #383282The problem is that when one party to a rape claim is given anonymity and not the other, there will ALWAYS be incidents like this one where an innocent person is stigmatised for life as a result of an (unproved or totally false) accusation.
Equally, if females are named in court, ESPECIALLY when they are proved to be the victim of a rape, then I suspect that loads will refuse to go through the whole process for fear of being stigmatised themselves. This would be completely undesirable as many more real rapists would escape unpunished.
Perhaps the answer is that BOTH parties to a sexual offence are granted anonymity until a finding of guilt whereupon the rapist can be named (and shamed) publicly.
17 October, 2008 at 9:58 pm #383283If she is guilty of making the entire thing up, she shouldnt just get charged with wasting police time at all. His career is now in ruins, as is his reputation. People always think there is no smoke without fire, and he will now always be known as the guy involved in a rape trial, just like John Leslie.
She should be sentenced to prison. I read somewhere that he would be facing LIFE had he been found guilty..yet she was prepared to stand there in court and tell a bare faced lie and didnt care what happened to him. I hope she gets severely punished.
