And God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”
It puzzles me why some denominations of christianity require their clergy to remain celibate….procreation is obviously endorsed in the bible and homosexual behaviour is forbidden….. maybe this gives answer to a comment passed by WooHoo in another thread relating to the number of priests connected to paedophile behaviour… :? :? :?
9 February, 2010 at 11:03 pm #430986Myra Hindley only became a born again christian on the teachings of Lord Longford, Hindley along with Longford thought it would get the parole she longed for.

Ok, my views on cliff richard being gay are the same views ive had for some years now. Probably to do with rumours in the beginning, i really can’t remember and care even less.
I cant quite see myra hindley being the sweet godfearing woman you seem to be able to, in your if, and and but theory.
As for my own religion,,,,,,,well being a christened catholic it makes me a catholic, im not and havent for some years now, been a practising catholic. If I wish to mock my religion then surely thats my business. I’m not hurting anyone else by doing that, i’m just voicing my opinion. I don’t tell others who wish to carry on believing what they believe that theyre wrong, and i’ll thank them to grant me equal respect in my beliefs.
criticising and mocking are two different things

Because the bible says you should if you can but if you cant then get married… i’d guess its supposed to be giving yourself over totally to God rather than temptation but there is sex and surely getting married is the right thing to do and doesn’t detract from their faith

Cliff Richard might be Pete’s hero, and Pete might like to dance to Summer Holiday, and congratulations.
According to Pete Myra Hyndley might be the atheists hero who we worship, since we dont have the ten commandments to tell us not to kill or to be morally correct like the christians have, and since we dont have the ten commandments, were gonna indulge in a frenzied killing spree like Miss Hyndley.and i put forward your post as proof positive that you are both a tit and an idiot who resorts to childish statements cause the nasty man wont agree with him
9 February, 2010 at 11:12 pm #430990As with the teachings of paul, ~he wishes they could all be like him~…still, i fail to see the connection between the sriptures from God endorsing procreation on the one side and then making adultery a sin and pauls statements on the other….. to procreate and subdue the earth cannot be posible without marriage unless sex before marriage is the case…again frowned upon by the church… :?

Khan you expand a bit maybe ?
I’ll try but feeling a tad deflated by your godawful puns.
Monotheist religion, yes the Big 3 of Judaism, Christianity and Islam which all appeared from the same babbling brook, are currently living in an old people’s home somewhere outside the fertile crescent. Yes they achieved many fine things in their lives, and are blamed for countless misdoings too, but the real fault was in design. Man made God not the other way round. I feel that The Almighty got bored of his various sub-contracted firms and has been tendering for new and fresher labourers this past generation or two. Although many influential public figures during this era do seem to have carried Aquarian tendencies rather than Piscean, and it’s still important to appreciate fish.
There’s so much information out there that’s now so confusingly readily available to so many that the old standards no longer apply. No one is going to supplicate themselves before Mr Priest just because the canny old sod has some eclipse timetables hidden away. And the Arch-Rabbi of Meccabury should really stop pointing at those dusty old scrolls. New wine in old bottles and all that.
If there’s an asteroid out there with Gaia’s name on it then holding up some ancient book is really not going to provide much protection for our families. Every single one of us six billion knows what is truly in their heart but we do keep insisting on ulterior evidence. The Law of Karma is pretty much universally attested to, so perhaps we can all agree on that ?
oh, and happy transmigration to all

9 February, 2010 at 11:23 pm #430993Very interesting toybulldog………..i`m still waiting for the return of the jedi…
9 February, 2010 at 11:29 pm #430994Its a matter of fact that to procreate if celibate is impossible….Google can be alright but, its always a better idea i think to go straight to the source for completely reliable wording…..generally, the quotes i find with google are very accurate, as with the quotes from paul and the old testament along with christian doctrine…they appear to create confusion….. in reality i suppose the best source would be the comments from a member of the clergy……btw…i wouldnt recommend googling member of the clergy…
