Not having met the man, i cant say…..his story telling appears to be popular, i myself tend to read factual material :-) as im sure you have noticed…..take the talmud for instance, theres death, blood, people with fantastic abilities, not to mention the miraculous events… the story of a people persecuted through the times, uplifted by the almighty and and singled out to put right the wrongs of the goyim..
    Its all there….look…
“A Jew should and must make a false oath when the goyim asks if our books contain anything against them.” -Szaaloth-Utszabot,
Yep….its the talmud for me….death, destruction, fear and terror like you never seen before… i just cant put it down…. :-)
Should i like this man Grisham, why should i like him in particular ?

A lot of it sounds farmilar Gaz. The same as the rest. To be fair the Jews dont seem to force their religion on you like the Muslims and Christians do. They seem to be happy just practising it them to themselves.

Nidrasch Talpioth, p. 225-L: “Jehovah created the non-Jew in human form so that the Jew would not have to be served by beasts. The non-Jew is consequently an animal in human form, and condemned to serve the Jew day and night.”

Aboda Sarah 37a: “A Gentile girl who is three years old can be violated.”

Gad. Shas. 2:2: “A Jew may violate but not marry a non-Jewish girl.”

   Words fail me

In every religious script, be it the Bible, the Koran, the Talmud and so on, you will find tales of love and hate, trust and fear, with each doctrine saying that their way is the only way, condemning other ways, and so on.

This is why any religion can so easily be abused by fundamentalists who take aspects of the text out of context and reinterpret, twist and abuse the words in their mission to preach fear and hate, often to the point that they expound a form of religion that regular peaceful worshipers with no axe to grind can barely recognise.

    For instance, here:

You have taken one sentence of a whole passage that relates to the reverse form of dowry that was practiced by Jews. If you place that one sentence in isolation with no context around it, then it can be twisted to portray Jews as people who condone child abuse so that you can condemn them, when if it was viewed in context of the whole passage you would see that it in no way condones child abuse but in fact offers a form of protection for a child who has been abused when she comes to marrying age by saying that she should still be viewed as a virgin bride. But hey, let’s gloss over that as it wouldn’t serve your aim of condemning Jews now would it?

You are looking through these texts with the aim of condemning a religion, seeking out anything that can paint it in a negative light, therefore that is what you will find. If I were to pick up the same texts and look for love and compassion, that is what I would find.

    Seek and ye shall find.
