Right Dave before we start deleting anything can you go start>my computer>drive C>windows>system 32 and look if you can find this MINIBUGTRANSPORTER.DLL and tell me if it’s there?

The systems32 folder stores all dll’s alaphabetically.

    #106413

all that is in system 32 is

a folder saying drivers and a single file called sfxmse.lox

Dave open up Hijackthis and click on the button thats says ‘do a system scan only’.

Now check the box next to this entry.

    O9 – Extra button: WeatherBug – {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} – C:Program FilesAWSWeatherBugWeather.exe (file missing) (HKCU)

Now press the fix button. Do not reboot.

Now download tune up utilities 2004 http://www.tune-up.com. (trial version).

Open up tune up and select the tab that says clean up and repair. Now run the registry cleaner and when the scan has finished select start cleaning.

Now reboot and run norton to see if the Minibug has been deleted.

    FFS, LMAO.

Dave i’ve tried all i can to help you out. According to the Hijack log the file has already been deleted which makes me think you maybe getting a false positive from Norton?.

I can only now suggest that you uninstal IE6, reboot and Run the Tune-Up registry cleaner.
Once you have finished running the registry cleaner reboot and instal IE6 again then reboot.

And these entries from the Hijack log are Alexa toolbar related. I recommend you remove these too as they are classed as Spyware.

    O9 – Extra button: Related – {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} – C:WINDOWSwebrelated.htm
    O9 – Extra ‘Tools’ menuitem: Show &Related Links – {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} – C:WINDOWSwebrelated.htm

No probs Dave. I think a clean OS install maybe your only solution here.

Turn of System Restore, reboot the pc, run Norton and any other
spy/adware removal tools you have. Then reboot and scan again.
Often things get saved in restore points.

    To turn off System Restore:
    Start
    Control Panel
    System
    System Restore
Check the box ‘Turn off System Resore’
    Apply
    OK
Don’t forget to turn System Restore on again!
(Though in my experience SR doesn’t work in Windows ME. You’d be
    better off with XP)
