Does anybody know if it’s better to eat before or after you exercise?
I ate breakfast, waited 2 hours then I worked out for an hour, then I chowed down on a salad and grapes directly after my routine because I was so hungry. Is that healthy or should I choose a different approach?6 February, 2007 at 8:30 pm #259193That depends on why you’re exercising.
6 February, 2007 at 9:26 pm #259194You should eat more if you are exercising anyway, to replace all the energy you have used. I wouldnt exercise till at least 90 minutes after eating, but always eat pretty soon afterwoods.
6 February, 2007 at 10:45 pm #259195you should eat something with carbs in about half hour – hour before exercise and then have a snack just after exercising(you’ll be starving so a small snack stops you diving into your meal when you do get it)…then a little later eat a proper meal :D
btw…you should be eating at least 6times a day (brekkie, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack) although as you probably know the snacks should be low calorie and low fat :)

Thats right, but I find it doesnt work for me eating so near to exercising, I tend to feel really bloated if I do.
We are all so different and you will find what works better for you :)

I disagree. If you’re exercising to lose weight, by loading up on carbs before exercising your body will burn carbs as they are more easily converted to energy than bodyfat.
If you’re trying to bodybuild, load up on carbs before exercising, then eat high protein soon after.6 February, 2007 at 11:32 pm #259199have been told by multiple personal trainers/fitness instructors that eating carbs a while before exercising is good for you even if you are trying to lose weight.
being that following this i’ve lost nearly 4st in under a year i think it might actually work

If you’ve lost 4 stone you won’t need a X Ray, they’ll just stand you in front of a light bulb!
