More than 5 years ago, we voted for a political movement and leader to rule over us and protect us from harm whilst we slept under our blankets with nice warm air. We thought our luck had changed for the better, so we voted them in again 4 years later.
4 years ago, there was a prison riot in Lincolnshire. In October 2002, David Blunkett, the then Home Secretary, told the head of the Prison Service to “machine-gun” rioting inmates to regain control of the jail, the then director general (Martin Narey) has claimed.
Martin Narey claimed a “hysterical” Mr Blunkett told him he did not care about loss of life. Mr Blunkett told me to call in the Army and ‘machine gun’ the prisoners.
Martin said, the incident demonstrated that when Mr Blunkett was under pressure “he could be almost impossible to work with”.
“What you are looking for is calm guidance, it’s leadership, from a Secretary of State, and that was sadly lacking on that occasion.”
He added: “I don’t think David was decisive that evening; I think he was reckless.”

Hold on a minute i hear you say, this isn’t the kind of political mastery i had in mind when i voted for them in 97,01 and 05, what the f..k. You were under the impression they were nice people who new how to treet people?
Well it just goes to show, that with all the spin via the marketing resources they use to gauge your opinion, that infact you dont really know what and who your voting for, just some nice smilling faces on a tv screen. And hey, you lead a busy life, you havn’t the time to know what kind of people they are.
In recent days and weeks since the veil outburst of jack straw, the majority non islamic population has made it clear they agree with jack, and so, now we see all manner of labour MP’s explaining how ridiculous it is that someone should wear a veil or a jesus cross.
The point is, that these “political” people are like cameleon’s, they change their appearence like a stripper, desperate to keep their clothes of power and money switched on.
17 October, 2006 at 11:34 pm #244983But Emma – David ”blind pugh” Blunkett has flatly denied ever saying this to the prison governor …. and we all believe every word he says dont we? I said …. DON’T WE ???????
17 October, 2006 at 11:43 pm #244984Umm..dunno what a ‘cameleon’ is Emma. Is it related in any way to a CHAMELEON?

If the government did not bend to the will of the electorate it wouldn’t be a elected government. It would be a dictatorship!

Sadly Owen this is exactly what they have become – an elected dictatorship. Our daily diet now consists of spin, and outright lies interspersed with financial scandals and ministerial wrongdoing. They are acknowledged world experts in the black arts of spin and media management to the total detriment of truth.
It would appear that the ‘Dear Leader’ is shortly to go forth and become the leader of another failed musical group. Sadly it seems that he in currently presiding over the forthcoming demise of the NHS; of the education system; of the Army, Navy & Air Force; and one of the highest tax regimes in Western Europe; the list goes on and on.
Mind you the alternative – dour humourless Gordy – doesn’t bear thinking about.

Why?
How many jobs have been created through Telecommunications over the last 10 years? Mobile phones, satelite tv and internet, must be millions of jobs created, but nothing to do with new labour.
There are 1.7 million unemployed now. I’d like to know how many people were on the sick in 97, and now? is there still 3 million unemployed? I cant find the figure hmm.
