Being an Irishman and a Catholic, I must rank somewhere next to primordial ooze in Tom’s estimation :?But from personal experience, I know that’s not true. In fact I’ve always enjoyed a pleasant and good humoured relationship with Tom in chat. We get on grand.
One must take into account his proclivity to embellish when encountering some of his more.. erm.. outrageous pronouncements. However, this should not exclude them from the harshest of criticism. Panda, Scept and Words are doing a fine job in dismantling them here, so there is no need for me to twist the knife (as tempting as it may be on the Irish question in particular).
Nor will I seek to dismiss Tom’s opinions in any sneering or sardonic fashion – or anyones for that matter – that is not a nice thing to have done to you.Anyway, I’m pleased the referendum was passed here.
Now, if you will all excuse me, I’m going back to Sky Bet to throw my money away.

None of the above.
I supported a Yes vote in the referendum on the fiscal treaty this time around.
I have supported Fine Gael in Irish politics in recent times. However I’m not party political.
I support the Irish National team in all sporting endeavour.

Leeds Utd in English football.
Celtic in Scottish football.Want any more Pands my lovely?
:Pwell, whatever your taste in sports and politics (Fine Gael?), at least you have excellent literary taste, having seen your contributions to the Literature forum, Pepperpot.
That was a horrible alternative in the rferendum, but it was probably wisest to vote yes, given the circumstances. Probably. It’s certainly not a question of sovereignty, not at the moment anyway, but of how to climb out of the debt crisis.
The Irish are a very canny bunch. When they couldn’t defeat Britain in the economic war in the 1930s, they didn’t continue to beat their heads against a brick wall, but turned to the EEC/EU (the Whittaker Report, 1958). I don’t think economic soveriengty is possible – just negotiationg your way through the sharks at the moment, and pointing to the need for an alterrnative way of doing things.

:PWhat bear do you support? 8)
5 June, 2012 at 7:09 pm #497998I was told that bears in the USA are getting cancer now.
They have developed a taste for human instant food and trashy sweets, go raiidng people’s houses to eat it, and get cancer.
There’s a lesson there somewhere, though probably not eating bamboo shoots, urinated on or otherwise.
Words, take care of your luxury yacht, in case a bad bear decides to raid it.
