Enid Blyton wrote wonderful stories of adventures, mysteries and fantasies that have been enjoyed all over the world. It is a well recorded fact that she wrote many stories for the children of her friends and in doing so quite often neglected her own children. Her daughter Imogen wrote “My mother was arrogant, insecure and without a trace of maternal instinct. Her approach to life was childlike, and she could be spiteful like a teenager,”
Enid would hold parties in her garden for all the children in the village. Her own children would have to watch from the house where they were locked in.
She was dedicated to her fans, she did her best to write back to all of them but her relationship with her own children, on the other hand, was quite distant.

I saw a film to that effect last year. She wasn’t a nice person to her own kids.

I think I might get a copy of The Island of Adventure and see if it still captivates me as it did when I was a kid. I’m still a big kid, see, lol.

I read some Famous Five books, can’t for the life of me remember any of them. The only character I remember was George, even then someone who challenged gender stereotypes was attractive.

Or was I just messed up?
