i personally disagree i think cristiano ronaldo as much as i hate him is better than most.
george best looked good from footage iv seen but he wasted it so we will never know if he was a great or not.
in fairness drivel i personally think modern footballers are better footballers than those of the 70s etc
my reasons being…
fitness (nowadays footballers are athletes they dont meet up in the pub before and after a game, they have a strict diet and spend all their time training etc)
the human body is more advanced now due to training etc hence why sprinters are on average faster than they where 30 years ago.
if a player from the 70s was to play now in a premier league team they wouldnt stand a chance over 90 minutes because their physical fitness woldnt last also gone are the days of stupidly rough tackles.
its a different game now drivel, now you have 2 choices you can either sit there and sound a tiny bit dated moaning about the greats you have seen and how modern football isnt a patch on those good old standing room only days.
orrrrr
you can accept that the sport has moved on and advanced, you just didnt get on board that train when it left
theres still time for you though.

Like anyone is interested in watching Villarreal !!!!!
The Spanish and Italian leagues are crap to watch – it’s like watching a game of chess , or paint dry – you stick to that Robbo mate – leave the real football to folks that know what they are talking aboutYou know nothing about football! I remember the times when I used to make you look stupid when we discussed football. So you are better off leaving it there, DRIVEL.
So you are saying no one is interested in the Spanish league, or the Italian league? So everyone watches the Premier League, then? You really are a football knowledgeable wannabe!
You are incapable of making anyone look stupid you muppet !!!!
I have seen players you wouldn’t believe – I know the game’s changed – but calling Rossi a great player – is a bit much even for your limited intelligence
If you’d seen the likes of George Best , Denis Law , Rodney Marsh , Tony Green , Jimmy Baxter , Tony Currie , Don Rogers – any of those playing live – then you might have something to compare
Modern day footballers don’t come into the reckoningHow many more times are you going to throw these names up? So you are saying that you can’t call a player a great player because of these players? Are you seriously that stupid? I’ve had plenty of debates about football…But you, well…It is impossible to have a debate about football with someone like you, because your lack of intelligence, and your lack of knowledge about the sport stops you from doing so. Not to mention that you are stuck in the past!!!
ps: And just because you went to see these great players, doesn’t mean you have knowledge about the sport, because you don’t.

Of course there are the exceptions , Ronaldo apart , show me a player in the Premership who can ghost past defenders regularly
Of course the game has changed – fitness levels are higher , and the current laws about tackling , shoulder contact , arms risen are making the game a non contact sport
If you think speed is the main attribute , that looks to me the direction the game is heading to the detriment of skillI enjoy the Premiership , token , I am a season ticket holder and have been to all our away games too , bar one
All i’m saying is that Robbo , as well as having limited intelligence , wouldn’t know a good footballer , if he kicked him up the arse !!!!
Now let’s just all sit back and watch Newcastle get relegated , Keegan spit his dummy out and Mike Ashley sell the club

I obviously know more about football than you, Drivel..As I proved over and over again. The only footballers you know about are the ones before I was even born, yet you try to prove these points to me, because I have never seen them live or whatever. Well, how am I supposed to when I werent even born, you retard?.
Going to matches also doesn’t mean you know stuff about football(you going proves this). A lot of people who go to matches don’t even understand the game, or understand how it’s played. You can go on about Rossi, or Martins, or whoever! The fact remains that I wasn’t wrong…They are good players, yet you keep trying to argue the point because they arn’t as good as your past greats? Like Token stated…Football has changed, and a lot of things about the game HAS changed. You just can’t quite grasp this. Quit replying to me, because you are a waste of time, and a waste of everyone elses time. Although I enjoy replying to the Justchat Dummy Foundation Club.

12 February, 2008 at 8:05 pm #308907could a modern day footballer play with heavy leather boots?
a sodden wet cudger (as heavy as a medicine ball at times)(try heading the laces)
play for a shilling
even the strips were heavy…..so ….could the good old days footballer play in todays game…..probably
todays footballer is over paid, over hyped,up thier own fcukin arse.
the good old day footballer is just….over the hill
there are too few modern day footballers play with any pride these days….its the pound before the pride

Good points Argie mate
However Robbo thinks that Martins (can’t trap a bag of cement) is a good footballer
He’s head down arse up and off like a sprinter – occassionally he mishits the ball and it rockets inot the net – however when he hits it properly its in row ZZZ of the Gallowgate endRobbo your point about fans who pay their money not knowing anything about football is way off target (unless you are a Newcastle fan of course)

From an armchair viewer (or do you stil lhave a high chair) , thats rich
watching tv highlights or even live games on TV doesn’t give you the right to critiscise proper football supporters .
If you want to watch good youth players – watch Sunderland U’18s – they stuffed Liverpool last night in the FA Youth Cup
Liverpool were favourites to win the trophy for the 3rd year running – they were put to the sword last night in a tremendous game – 5 3 after extra time -
