I’m always grateful to those parents who are considerate enough to bring in their tokens of appreciation for caring and nuturing their little darlings for the past year, the day before you break up. (It saves you having to carry so much home on the last day)!
I was on a roll today as they tripped in with beaming smiles and brightly coloured wrapped gifts and pretty cards, so eager for you to open them and exclaim how you’ve always wanted yet another bone china mug with handbags or fluffy dogs on!
I was appreciative on receiving a couple of bottles of wine, some smellies and the odd candle or two, the obligatory chocs of course (would’nt be the same without them)!
But then as Toby sauntered into the classroom, his white blonde hair shimmering in the sunlight, his unrelentless chatter and pride in his achievement was very endearing. His mother who has even whiter hair (courtesy of 100% peroxide mixed with nothing) followed close behind and proudly presented me with this!
However, I think I got the better deal as two of my colleague’s were presented with these by the older brother!
wonder what the parents would think if they read this post :P
Yeah I thought that too :?
Must admit I did too, and how terrible for that little boy if it got back to him his teacher was so disrespectful to him and his parents to belittle a present he was so pleased to present to her by posting it on a chat site…. sorry Im not usually judgmental here… but this takes the biscuit
smacks of the words of a bitter old :P cynic
wonder how many primary schools there are around silverston
off to the northants county council web site collect a few email addresses for schools :twisted:8 July, 2011 at 9:21 am #472838As a shopkeeper I have people coming in at this time of year looking for teacher presents and all I see and hear is disinterested kids who couldn’t care less what they give their teachers and mums who say “oh just get her a candle or bath salts, they’re only a fiver, that will do”.
A child and/or his parent has actually used some imagination and come up with an original and personalised gift…whatever I thought of the gift, I like to think I’d value the thought and effort behind it.
8 July, 2011 at 9:24 am #472839so the bottom line is this
rose
not even a teacher
just an assistant
expects presents from the children in her class
but turns her nose up at the creative gifts she received
and prefers booze from the kidswhat sort of example does that set for young children
you should be gratfull for any thing you get
its the thought that counts
not the gift
