What are you views about Elton John and his “husband” having a baby?
Personally I think it’s no ones business but theirs and I think that baby will be loved just as much as it would have been had he been born to a “normal” couple. There must have been good reason they waited so long. David and John have been together 17 years. So it’s not as if they have rushed into it. Finding the right surrogate would have been easy with the money they probably paid, so I think they have been sensible and weighed up all the options and more.
I think they will be able to protect the baby from the usual prejudices of children to same sex couples because of the circles they live and revolve in. Hopefully by the time he’s an adult he will be well grounded and be able to hold his own against those bigots.
So good luck to them and apparantly next time David’s sperm will be used for a sibling for the baby to complete their family.1 January, 2011 at 11:56 pm #458124Good old fashioned loving deviants.

3 January, 2011 at 4:29 pm #458127At least Elton John’s baby will grow up in a very wealthy and privileged environment!
As for gay people becoming parents or adoptive parents, many would make very good parents, probably. But the problem I foresee in many cases is that a child of two gay dads is likely to get picked on and bullied at school. So is it fair to put the parents’ equality before the welfare of the child?

BUT – By the time this child has grown up and attends Comprehensive, so many things will be different, aswell as the fact that this child will probably be sent to ‘Private School’ – And, I am quite shocked with this statement from you as it goes,.. At least Elton John’s baby will grow up in a very wealthy and privileged environment! as I didn’t take you as the type to think that wealth makes all the difference.

Actually Woo Hoo there are numerous studies with evidence that rich kids even thick rich kids do better in school (even in state run schools) than kids from poorer families.
There are many theories why this is the case, but I have no doubt that Elton’s child will have every possible advantage money can buy and will do well academically in the school system be it a private or state school,,,, now whether the child will grow into a happy rounded and grounded adult is another question.
