    Be Persistent

Will we ever learn right from wrong
We should as through life we go along
When we err, its not too late
If your error, you can translate

If you realise, your nearly there
You have to show people, that you care
Others should enable, you the time
To make amends, for your foolish crime

We are all capable, we should realise
We must be grateful, if we’re strong and wise
    We should try to understand
And give others a helping hand

We must consider, our help they may not accept
To this, the strong and wise should be adept
    We should continue to pursue
In the hope that we get through
    When successful, its just reward
Some self praise you can afford

Ruby, wow when poetry makes the hairs stand up on the nape of my neck, then sends shudders down my spine, I know that the person who wrote it is a wonderful being, Ruby your words melted my heart, not one wasted, I am honoured that you choose to post it here .

    In an Ideal World

Ah my friend, I have sought thee for some time
For I have bought thee, not for thy labour
    But for thy knowledge
For I have heard of angry mountains,
that drive ye from thy dwellings
Of mass waters that flood thy crops
    and drown thy livestock
    Of earth that opens
and swallows thy people and belongings
I need to know how thy people survive
    natures wrath
How ye rebuild and replace thy losses
Thus together we may share in our knowledge
Then we may help others,to survive these ordeals

    Every Little Helps

As you stroll through the park, admiring the sky
Did you see that stranger, as you were passing by
Head in their hands, bottle at their feet
Their belongings ,in a bag beside them on the seat

They were once a child, but turned left instead of right
Once they were aglow, but someone turned out the light
May have had a family, but have not seen them grow
It does not hurt at all, for you to say hello

Hello could mean a lot, lift them for a while
And it does not cost a penny, to give them a smile
With a spring in your heels, as you make your way
Feeling contended, you’ve helped someone today

    Roles of Life (Stage One)

    I was happy,cosy,snug and warm
Then Mom decided its time for me to be born
Into an air raid shelter dark, damp and cold
21st June 1940 nought years old
When an embryo ,I knew what was to come
    But suddenly ,I’m a BABY,SON and GRANDSON
    Also a NEPHEW,COUSIN and BROTHER
I had to contemplate these roles in the arms of my Mother
My next main role will be a PUPIL at school
Where I will learn to read and write and how to use a rule
Untill then theres such a lot to do
Like play, eat and sleep till we get to stage two

But I remained a VIRGIN used my hand
Became an APPRENTICE to enhance my knowledge
and a STUDENT at technical college
Became a SPRINTER at the local harriers
for Small Heath I hurdled barriers
still played football for many teams
but never quite realized my dreams
    My Sister wed ,never before
    had I been a BROTHER-IN-LAW
Next along came a bundle of joy

    Roles of Life (Stage Four)

Gain my City Guilds , as an ELECTRICAL ENGINEER
Dad is proud , Mom sheds a tear
I get engaged to Pauline Ann
Become a FIANCÉE and a MAN!!
Work long and hard ,now for a while
So we can get married in style
We get married in sixty four
I become a HUSBAND of the girl I adore
We’ve also got a mortgage loan
So I become the OWNER of my own home
    Pauline conceives I’m so glad
For now I become a FATHER and DAD
We name him Dean our beautiful son
A bundle of joy and lots of fun
    Then along came Daughter Dawn
In sixty six she was born
The Lord choose her for Heaven, after a week
I become a MOURNER I can hardly speak
    Next year another Little life
Our Daughter Kim ,I become a MID WIFE
Yes I had to deliver , cause no one was there
The emotional feeling, is awfully rare
Now I’m glad to be alive
and looking forward to stage five
