Did you do anything for Earth Hour. I did – I turned all the lights on including the 500 watt outdoor floodlight!
Apparently, turning off electrical appliances for only one hour actually INCREASES the amount of carbon emitted by power stations. This because the surge caused when they all kick in again means that the National Grid has to use quick reacting generating stations (coal & oil driven) and this negates any ‘saving’ their might have been.
Yet another example of the futility of tree hugger’s empty gestures.
Well, the tree I hugged was very grateful.. it was a rather gorgeous looking maple.
I hugged a girl called Mabel once – does that count???
