This is the stuff of science fiction German scientists have still to pinpoint the source of the outbreak after earlier blaming Spanish cucumbers.
Scientists revealed today the outbreak is an ‘entirely new super-toxic’ strain of E.coli which is contagious and resistant to antibiotics
I dont know if anyone was a fan of Terry Nation he wrote Dr Who and The Survivors this story is reminiscent of the survivors… the bug in that case turned out to be man made and released by accident from a research lab…. hope they find a solution to this one quickly.

I’m no public health doctor, but if the source was imported salad vegetables, the outbreak would have been across Europe. As it is all the cases originate in the Hamburg area.
Someone else’s vegetables – no something happening in Hamburg! Germany’s reponsibility, not foreigners.
For this arrogance the Spanish have lost millions of euros, at a time when their economy is in big trouble. Bet there will be no German sympathy when they need money from German banks to stay afloat.

5 June, 2011 at 5:53 pm #4700776 June, 2011 at 6:49 am #470078I just read that Test results due later today are expected to reveal whether bean sprouts from a farm in Germany are the source of an E.coli outbreak which has killed 22 people
So bean sprouts are the new killers – I’ll stick to healthy bacon and eggs then :D
