Three years ago today i recieved the worst kinda phone call any parent can get telling me my daughter was in a car crash as a passenger, not one of the drivers i may add,
so i jumped in the car and i was there at the accident within minutes of it happening i had to arrive at the scene not knowing if my daughter was alive or dead i had to witness them spending nearly 3 hours cutting the poor man and my daughter out of what can only be described as carnage.
i had to witness a man dying in front of me, while they were still trying to cut my daughter free from the other car, how anyone escaped that scene alive is a miracle my heart goes out the the poor family who have lost someone i very nearly lost my daughter, i didnt thankfully she lived but i lost the daughter i had before that night the daughter i have now isnt the same, i spent the last 3 years watching her try to recover from her serious injurys, and try to rebuild her life and come to terms with the events that happened that night. there is a lot more that i could and would like to say on this matter but i wont, apart from the two drivers were each jailed for nine years and banned from driving for 10 years.
To the friends who have been there for me i want to say a massive thanks, So be grateful that you can be with the ones you love and celebrate Christmas together.
Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas if you are lucky enough to be sat with your family and friends enjoying the festivity’s give them an extra hug and kiss and spare a thought for those sat without someone here that should be and for what ever reason ie they are out working keeping everyone else safe or they are stuck in hospital or they have sadly lost there life, Raise a glass to absent friends and family, stay safe everyone and enjoy the day and to anyone traveling on the roads over ChristmasPlease dont have DRINK/ do Drugs , and decide to DRIVE, Or SPEED and drive im quite sure your family would rather have you home late and safe, so spend a extra 5 mins to Phone a taxi if under the influance or Slow down and not speed, and get home safe and sound, and without wrecking another familys Christnas than not at all or have to live with what your thoughtless actions may cause.
This is what i had to witness and trust me i wouldnt wish the News i recieved that evening on my worst enemy

or on pills which say do not drive.
Safety first, if you don’t value your own life , then think of the ones you don’t know, who you could kill!

I am very sorry to read of your very personal experience AB. Thank god you daughter survived.
I think posting the pics of the accident might be a tad too far though … someone’s family member died in that crash.
All we can do is take responsibilty for ourselves whilst driving .. sadly it’s usually the irresponsible actions of others that cause the damage.
Drive safely & within the law is all we can do.
I hope all that are missing someone dear get through Christmas as it’s often the hardest time of the year.
I wish you all peace & Merry Christmas xx

The man’s family is fine with me showing the pics we have become friends as stupid as that sounds, we have been through an awful ordeal and the trial together which took over a year to get to court, We are both campaining to have the law changed
To remove the distinction between killing someone whilst driving & murder/ Manslauter .
Because my belief is they made a choice to drink , or take drugs then get in to a car or they chose to drive at stupid speeds,
Under UK law death by dangerous driving has a maximum gaol sentence of 14 years (CPS website)
We both do this every year to raise awarness shock-tactics maybe, but if it makes just one person stop and think then the man who died and the injurys my daughter suffered may not happen to someone else i guess.
23 December, 2016 at 3:28 pm #1012302So sorry to hear of your daughter AngelBabe and cannot but agree with all the points made.
Happy Christmas to you all xx
