Does your family and friends know you chat?

im in a similar vein as you mrs t
i dont advertise it but wouldnt deny it
and no i wouldnt want my daughter chatting here
we all have our reasons as to how and why we came to chat
mine was mainly because i am a single parent and when the kids were younger i didnt get out as often as i would have liked and it was a way of amusing my self in the evenings when the kids were in bed
i dont have that prob any more but its now a habbit

have met some very nices peps through chat
and some a rse holes too
been to 4 group meets and generaly most of who i have met have been ok
not all were my cup of tea
but most were very pleasant
and some were suprisingly nice as i had formed an opinion before i met them

i dont do one to one meets :wink:

First of all Backgammon – Mrs T contact me, ive been looking for someone who knows how to play for ages.

And yeah i tell people about here and the people i chat to i refer you to all (most) as internet friends. some ppl here call me nuts but im actually quiet in real life and very laid back so my friends are the same.
As i have NO life during the week its a good as any place to spend.

Family: well there’s only Mr Jen and he knows that I use a number of message boards and one chat site. He doesn’t know which ones (apart from one that I also advertise on) as he’s never asked, but I wouldn’t hide it from him. I know he also uses message boards for his work and techie stuff, but again I don’t know which ones as it’s simply not of interest to me. He doesn’t get the chat thing though, he doesn’t understand why, if you get on with someone online, you don’t just skype with them.

Friends: I don’t hide my on-line life, but I don’t advertise it either. Some of my friends are avid Facebook users, putting far more in the public domain than I ever would, yet they find message boards a bit strange! Having said that, they’re quite happy to ask me to post questions on some of the boards I use when they want more information on something!

As for would I want the people that know me to see me chatting here…it really wouldn’t bother me as I’m pretty much the same here as I am in real life. I’ve always worked on the basis of not putting anything in the public domain that I would be embarassed about or wouldn’t want people close to me to read, so there’s really no issue there for me. However, like you Mrs T, this is my space, something for me, so although on the one hand it wouldn’t bother me, on the other hand I’d like to keep it for me.

As for how and why I came to JC, I’ve already posted that elsewhere on these boards so won’t bore everyone a second time! :lol:

as to the pms, i do get annoyed when im asked ” does your partner/husband/keeper/jailer etd know that u chat?” . Or, if i say am separated ” o yea, i suppose he got psd off with u using a chat site”.

I think the problem lies in the minds of the ppl who think its a problem.
