    I found the “chav” comment mildly amusing, totally different class of course to the working class of the 70s and 80s, when owning a pair of docs was aspirational and a rite of passage into adulthood. Nowadays all classes wear docs and the hipster movement made them trendy again more recently.

    Lol. The good old days Somer, when I still had a 30 inch waist and could run like a greyhound when I saw them docs heading my way.

    I remember when I was a kid the girls used to wear monkey boots they were always purple,with yellow laces I kn0w a chatter from here who used to wear them obviously I cant say her name that would be crass
    but tracy used to wear them when she used to collect golf balls in heaton park Manchester/Salford border she used to go and dive into heaton park lake and sell them back to the hapless golfers for 5p

    I always hated the brogue style…that curved design that looked like a bow with no string and loads of holes in it. Can’t deny the comfy shoes i wore though.
