If I was you Pebbles I would go, to satisfy your curiosity. As they say, if you dont go you will never know. Try and go for one who a friend has seen and has good feedback for.
Ive personally never paid for a one on one, Ive never felt the need, but there are events in your life that trigger off those feelings of wanting to know, or get a message and I understand.
My friend swears by a certain lady here in Essex she sees her once a year at least.
When she was getting married I was at another friends wedding reception up the road from the church where she was. I saw her after her photos about to leave the church. Her being a wino like me, I though she’d appreciate a drink after standing in the heat for the photo’s so I ran from the one we were at down to where she was and she was like “omg… you lifesaver”, had a hug and a small tear of happiness. I noticed that a teeny weeny bit got on her dress and was mortified….
She then burst into tears and said she went to the medium that week who told her a good friend would spill a small amount of something red on her dress…
That made her happy.
23 July, 2008 at 8:49 am #355836Erm…..no, I don’t see dead people, not in the way I might see a live person wih my eyes, but I do sense people and “see” them in my mind (or with my third eye for those into this kind of thing). I have been visited by friends in dreams and during the day when I wasn’t aware they were dead, and I often get messages to pass on to other people. Too many stories too numerous to tell really!
I also have a mind-body-spirit gift shop and as you can imagine some of the conversations are, shall we say, interesting – some people are too “way out there” for me, but we have some deep conversations about spirituality and the after-life, and some ordinary people have the most amazing experiences, often not telling anyone for fear of being considered mad.
As for mediums, well there are a lot of charlatans out there who work by cold-reading and so on – for me, Colin Fry (who lives quite close to me and is a bit of a local celeb) does this more and more these days, I would say if you’re going to see him, treat it as entertainment. One of the most amazing “known” mediums I have seen was Gordon Smith, a lovely warm genuine down-to-earth man who does give precise names, dates, and sometimes even addresses – and if nothing is coming through, he doesn’t waffle and make things up, he is honest and says there just isn’t anything today.
If you do want to see a medium, then unless you have a really strong personal recommendation the best way is to go along to your local spiritualist church for a few meetings – you don’t have to be religious or believe, you can just sit at the back and observe – and ask around there.
Now, back to my incense, crystals and dead people……..

If you mean that all these people are imagining things or hallucinating then I dont buy it.
I believe there is something to it. I dont think it’s fair to dismiss millions of people as being mass hallucinators. What i dont understand is why people automatically label “Ghosts” as spirits of the dead. I see no evidence to support that.
We really have little idea how the world works or how time works. I prefer the theory that these Ghosts are Time Slips or people from Parallel Universes.

I rather posit the suggestion that ‘ghosts’ and ‘ghostly’ events, are probably imprints on buildings and atmospheres, like music laid down onto plastic..LPs, CDs and so on. Thus the spectres replaying certain imprinted scenes over and over again.
I could, of course, simply be talking out of my backside!23 July, 2008 at 2:59 pm #355840@esmeralda wrote:

I could, of course, simply be talking out of my backside!Thats an interesting thought actually. And it would explain why some are more openly perseptive to it than others, those who believe they have a “gift” are mearly just more in tune with that side of it than the rest of us.

and the billions who dont see them are just what ?
23 July, 2008 at 5:15 pm #355842So what? Just because billions of people havent seen them you think that means they arent real?
To dismiss millions of people who have seen them as having something wrong in their head is arrogance.
23 July, 2008 at 5:19 pm #355843Les Dennis used to die every time he went on stage and I remember seeing him a few times on TV… spooky.
23 July, 2008 at 5:43 pm #355844A friend’s daughter had a fit once, don’t know all the details cos frankly I don’t care enough to ask but to cut a long story short, she mentioned a woman who appeared at the bottom of her bed at one point.
She told her mum what this woman’s name was and was able to tell her all about this woman as if she had known her for years even though she actually didn’t know her. Her mum told a nurse and it turns out the woman she mentioned had been in the ward but had died a few days before.
I’m more of a skeptic that a non believer as such.
