Today I saw something that p iss me right off.
Transco (emergency gas leak response) had park in a busy shopping area, and had park in a “disable only parking space”.
There was nothing wrong with that, its legal and normal for such companies when they are carrying out gas leak tests.
When 5 mins after they had started work, someone with a “disable parking badge” and parked so close to the back of the van, they couldn’t get in the back off it.
They ask her nicely to move back, but she refused and argued her case.
It seems she lives in an upstart flat next door to were they where working and need to pop in and get her med’s. It seems it’s “her” parking place “only”.
At this one I got involved, after all I had call Transco in to check a gas meter line.
With 4 of us looking at her she back down and moved on.
Then police up, it seems this silly women had call them and made a complate about the van being parked in the space.
They took one look at us and told us about the complate and ask how long we would be there for. They understood the problem and were ok about.
They this silly women turns up again and tells the police about why we should move, they took no notice of her and told her to find another space to park.
What pi sses me off about this is the fact she was not in a wheel chair, not on crunches and was able to walk the 200 feet where she had finally parked out. She lives in a second floor flat.
Why the hell does she have a disable parking permit?
I think it’s about time this people were reminded that they’re not that important and the DHSS and their doctors may have to listen to them, but the rest of us don’t give a dam about them.
28 February, 2008 at 8:19 pm #314845Iv seen that before!! They probably give them out willy Nilly nowadays! Mind you you dont have to be in a wheelchair or on crutches,
to be liable for one. She might have Emthasemia, or something like that..Cant spell That Emthasemia word, I know..
29 February, 2008 at 12:06 am #314846I know that this will amaze you … and please don’t fall off your chairs … but I actually agree with Doa on this one.
Ok ihave all the sympathy in the world for those disable people in wheelchairs and suchlike – but quite frankly many many people ”play the system” so that they can benegit from the misfortunes of others.
My particular pet hate is ….. why on earth do supermarkets reserve so many parking spaces for disabled drivers (i.e. blue badge holders) – often totally out of proportion to the actual numbers of disabled drivers actually visiting to shop.
Oh, and why should they get all the best spaces (i.e. those that are nearest the doors).
29 February, 2008 at 12:00 pm #314847i ope ur tekkin the pi/ss PB!……….in our tesco/s.where there is room for about 600 cars.there are SIX disabled bays!!!!………..and the hospital which caters for millions..has about a dozen!!!. and you dont have to be in a wheelchair or on crutches to be disabled. what about people with heart desease are ones crippled with arthritis?!……families with diisabled children?!………..there are far more *mother and baby* spaces provided right outside the shop doors.than there are disabled bays.
