A dear friend passed in June, it’s not an exaggeration to say that without her support and guidance I would not be where I am today. We would go out as a foursome, we told each other things that we would never share with anyone else, we cried together and we laughed together, often until our faces hurt. They were wonderful times and I miss them so. There isn’t a day that I haven’t thought of her, and I often have to stop myself from picking up the phone, forgetting that she isn’t there anymore. The shame of it is that her husband has ceased contact because he can’t bear the memories that we bring, so it’s a double loss. My hope is that some day he will feel stronger and we can be there for him again.

Yes, sorry for your loss jen ( cuddle) , Give her Husband time though, once the intitial raw period is over he will contact you again.as one day he will want to discuss the happy times.

I had the opposite effect when i was widowed.Folks made sure i was n ot alone and forever asked me out, by this im meaning couples we would be out with at weekends etc.I tried to act as normal as possible..in my case somewhat overexcited and jovial :) I can never forget the accusation of flirting with someone,whom i thought was a pal and understanding.She viewed my widowhood to being competition to her.. gosh even now my face is burning.The entire company went quiet, women cringed and the men looked horrified… I had this fierce face nose to nose with me, accusing…damming me for my grief, making me wish beyond my wildest dreams that ” he” would suddenly walk into the pub and put a stop to this Bullying.

so what did I do ?? walk away and never darken the door of my then favourite pub ?

did i hell I accepted a job there LOL. She stopped coming through embarrassment of that night as i worked weekends. I always held back with being overfriendly with the Male. Heck I wouldnt have him on toast anyway ;)

Life is a learning process indeed. And i sure learned that with friends like that, who needs Enemas ( sic) .. onwards and upwards Girl x

The Landlord is now one of my best buddies. :) no they had to close the place down as it was bought over my some local Bus driver, god botherer thats now a millionaire ! He wanted the Land for a new bus depot.. swine ! was a great wee job, Id organise all kinds of speciallity nights outs ike Crude Mr and Missus comps etc. Had some decent bands and a good karaoke, run my myself. Never a dull moment with me in charge behind the bar. I was a Psychologist, a social worker, an ear to bend.. as well as being a harlot barmaid that pretended not to get the unsubltle Blonde jokes,till it suited me, then id wipe the floor with them during quizzes etc. I played a part, like an actress on an improvisation excercise..

By god i deserve an oscar for THAT performance :)
