Ah well, at least we have our naked royal family to distract us when the going gets tough.

I just think we’re suffering as a country and urgently need somebody to take charge and make decisions (however unpopular those decisions might be).
And to do it in a firm and decisive way, not caring for scoring media points or apologising and saying things like “I know it’s tough but it’s tough on all of us, we’re all in this together” when we’re blatantly not.
I can’t see anyone like that on the political horizon though :(
Agreed.
11 October, 2012 at 5:58 pm #512643That sort of authoritarian figure is about the worst thing for this or any country.
What’s needed is an understanding of how this mess arose, or we’ll fall into the usual finger-pointing at the EU or Polish immigrants. Then a politics which can move to a situation where health and education cuts can be avoided.
The saddest thing for me is the lack of any genuine oppositoon to deficit-cutting. If we don’t watch it, the economy will be wiped by an obsession wiht getting budgets balanced.
With Cameron openly talking of a referendum on the EU, perhaps a figure for whom Terry will vote is gradually emerging??
11 October, 2012 at 6:27 pm #512644:-s strange that………i don’t know about other areas in the country but i know for a fact that primary school children here already study the ‘great war’ learning about the battles that were fought and visiting the trenches and graves in belgium…….my son and daughter both went on the trips…………david’s a few years out of date me thinks and needs to talk a bit more to his education minister
12 October, 2012 at 8:34 pm #512645in fact, the 1914 war has more memorials than any othe war – they’re dotted throughout the country.
Changing the teaching of history may be a better memorial
