I would hate the thought of my loved ones in a coffin been eaten by creepy crawlies. Makes me shudder. I think alot maybe has to do with how you are brought up and your family believe. It’s my religion so to me cremation is normal.

You can have a small plot for the burial of the ashes, that way you still have somewhere you can go, sit and reflect. Of course you can still go to the place where the ashes were scattered too.

I haven’t been back to Wales since my mother died. I was the only one who tended my grandparents’ grave (my grandmother was buried as she died before cremation became more “popular”, my grandfather was cremated and his ashes interred in the same plot). I daresay it has now become overgrown with weeds despite the membrane and copious amounts of gravel that I put down. That to me is far sadder than not having somewhere to go, sit and reflect.

was a cold cold day the day of my fathers funeral
when we was in the crem it snowed on to a frozen car park
my wheels were spinning like mad and couldnt get off the car park
    i had no other choice
so i tipped the old fellas ashes under me back wheels
    worked a treat

the only usefull thing the miserable old git ever done for me :P

There is a flaw in your joke in that you don’t get the ashes on the day of the funeral
