Have you tried an on-line scan like kaspersky or something similar?
Try http://www.majorgeeks.com, they have some good links for online scans, but go for the recommended ones only.
You may have to fly naked though (turn off existing protection) as they may conflict

11 September, 2008 at 11:50 pm #371184Tell us what anti-virus / firewall you are using. Some of them use an enormous amount of computer resource to run and this might be a possible source of your problem.
Are you running any ‘programmes’ that start up (in DOS) before Windows starts? I’m thinking of Norton Go-Back for example etc.
However, if by ”load” you mean that it takes Windows 10-15 minutes to start up (after you initiallly switch on and the the ‘POST’ screen appears) and presents you with the desktop, then you most certainly have a big problem.
When you initially switch the computer on you will hear it ”beep” after 2 or 3 seconds. Can you listen to the ”beeps” and tell us how many there are, and whether they are long orshort ”beeps”.
Have you run a thorough virus scan? If not then you should run one – preferably in ‘Safe Mode’.
