Hi everyone
It has come to my attention that some of you are seeing pop-up advertising for ‘Cleanator’ – I am currently trying to track down where this is coming from, but in the meantime I would ask you to be wary of any pop-up advertisement you see for Cleanator. Please be aware that this is not an approved ad and we do not endorse this service in any way.
What is happening
Users will randomly browse the site, and their browser window will close. A small pop-up window will then appear offering a system scan or something similar. Do not accept or agree to anything you are offered. Click the ‘x’ in the top right corner of the box to close the window, and report this event to me in this thread, telling me what part of the site you were on when it happened.
About Cleanator
Cleanator is a rogue anti-spyware application that is designed to secretly install on your computer through various security vulnerabilities on your system. After execution, Cleanator will start issuing false notifications, claiming that your computer is infected with malware threats. Cleanator performs these actions for a reason to make you scared and ready to pay for the full rogue version of Cleanator. Cleanator shouldn’t remain on your system and is recommended to be removed immediately.
