How many cars in your household?
This morning it was pointed out to me that the 3 drivers in our household having one car each and a van for our business was laughable….most people I know if they are drivers have their own car….it is not unusual in my opinion…..most of my neighbours have 3/4 cars because the husband, wife and their kids have their own cars……..because they work….
Maybe the ones that thought one car is normal don’t let their wives drive and don’t want them having any independence…that is if they were allowed to learn to drive in the first place? :evil:29 March, 2012 at 10:53 am #4910642 drivers, 2 cars.
We both need a car to get into work, we also have different interests that mean that often we’re both out but in different places and need separate cars.
My car gives me independence, something I value and would fight to retain.
29 March, 2012 at 11:50 am #491065I have my own car. I love it and wouldn’t be without it. When I was married we also had one car for a long time, and I was hardly ever allowed to use it because I moved the seat position and the mirrors!!!! I can’t help it that I am a short @rse. Heavens preserve me from controlling men.
Public transport is ok, but I prefer doing long journeys in my car, particularly if you have to ferry children to and from places with all their worldly belongings! I guess I could get rid of my car and just hire one if I needed one, and maybe on day I will have to do exactly that, but at the moment I can afford to run one, so shall keep it.
29 March, 2012 at 11:58 am #491066I remember my sister, her hubby and 2 kids coming to stay several years ago, I took the week off and we went on lots of days out – in their car, a big estate, so mine was left on the drive for the week. As they left I heard my niece ask “mam, why have aunty Jen and uncle Tim got 2 cars?” and as they drove off I heard my sister say “because they’re posh”. I took umbrage at that.
Now both kids are grown up, my sister has her own car, her husband his own car and a company van, and my niece and nephew both have their own cars. Now who’s posh?

29 March, 2012 at 6:12 pm #491069Just the one here.
Large green estate car with a different colour bonnet as it flew up in the air going down the dual carriageway. A colour blind scrap dealer from york said the bonnet was green, it was as blue as the sky.But its great for the ladders, disco gear, bouncy castles, mars bars and coffee cups.
