31 January, 2007 at 10:37 pm #258453I just hope he is brave enough to start them at the Millenium Stadium.
How crap is having the final on a Sunday though………….
Dave being Chelsea, we enjoy watching the finals together (when we are in them) up the pub as there is a good mix of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man u fans and a few Spurs, but work the next day and all that? I feel a day off coming on
Them Arsenal younguns are brill. Just wish there were a few more English stars coming through though. I know we got 1, but a few more would be promising for the national squad.
2 February, 2007 at 1:34 pm #258454I taped the highlights and still havn’t seen it…prem teams dont do it for me like they used to.
Do Arsnic play any Englishman?

At the mo we got Wollcott (spl?) coming through surely to the first team soon. We lost Ashley Cole after bringing him through (Judas). And we were most famous for our back four in defence in recent years (and midfield) who were all English. That was at a time when all teams had a lot more foreigners than we had.
Club football is on a different par to country/international. Its a lucrative business.
Henry’s stall on signing a new contract was about a clause for youngsters coming through. Arsenal gave him what he wanted.
2 February, 2007 at 11:37 pm #258456:D Like henry gives a to$$ about English future….he may have wanted reassurences about team building, not our youth, french youth coming through perhaps.
That wenger seems very anti-English. Used to cheer arsnic over l’pool in the eighties, cant stand either now.
Even my club Leicester has few English players, stearman, macauley, porter, AJ, horsefield, yeates?, only just brought in last 2. 6 out of 26….
2 February, 2007 at 11:44 pm #258457Of course Henry doesnt give a toss about English players……….. why would he or should he?
As I said, club level has moved on a lot in recent years. Its very hard to see English youngsters coming through.
And its because of this Im estatic we have Woolcott coming on brilliantly, he has a future in the England squad.
My feelings about football are passionate, very higly passionate. My whole weekend is taken up with football. My youngest trains on Saturday, then we watch it on telly, then he plays on a Sunday then we watch it on telly.
Its my own personal little love
And for that reason, I leave the politics out, to enable the maximum enjoyment of the beautiful game.
Arsene Wenger is a fantastic manager who our english players over the years had no other opinion of him but admiration.
There the ones who would know what he was like are they not?
And that will ding dang do for me 8)

.
It wasn’t that he wanted English youth coming through or he doesn’t sign the contract.

Is he a good manager because he’s great at making footballers better at what they do, or does he look good because he can buy and pay people to do well?
In Martin o’neils first full season at Leicester, after just getting up via the play-offs, which gives you less time to prepare for the prem, we finished 9th, won the coca cola cup, qualified for europe. We were tipped for definate relegation. We had very limited funds, but at the time wenger would’ve been considered a better manager because they finished much higher.
Its not what you do, its what you do with the tools at your disposal.
Football players tell fans what they want you to think. Yes arsen is an ok manager, and they might like him, but its got more to do with arsen allowing them to earn alot of money by picking them to play for the team, and wanting to. If they say they admire him, they think there’s more chance of being picked.
If you thought you could get more money at work by saying you admire your boss, would you?
3 February, 2007 at 12:53 am #258459Of course I would!
I mean retired english players like Martin Keown, Lee Dixon, Tony Adams, Ian Wright, Ray Parlour, David Seamon, Nigel Martin etc etc etc, the list goes on.
Arsenal dont pay their wages anymore, and they still continue to praise his work.
Wenger’s wages depend on performance. If they dont perform, he will be out.
He dont pay the players, so it really doesnt matter what the players opinions are, the club pays them.
The only disgruntled player we have had was Cole. Shame about his injury this week.
As I said………. I keep the politics out of my love of footy so dont you do that quoty thingy on me again……… save that for serious posts lol!!!!!!! Let me enjoy my beautiful game for what it is………. a bloody beautiful game.
Theres enough crap in the world being spoilt, we cant put it all right on the net lol!!!! 8)
3 February, 2007 at 5:55 am #258460surely with a name like Terry Henry he must be an englishman!!!!
