I watched a programme a few nights ago, it was on during the night, I can’t remember what the programme was called but it was about Cannabis and it’s effects.
There were lots of tests carried out both on a human guinea pig and animals, they tested many different ways, different receptors in the brain, that kind of thing, some of it went over my head but it was, on the whole really quite interesting. There was a young lad, in his 20’s now I think, who did smoke it, and it did make his condition worse. He though, had been an un-diagnosed with schizophrenia. He was hearing voices in his head before the Cannabis, he still hears the voices, he still has mood swings, dark days. No! the Cannabis clearly didn’t help, but it wasn’t the cause, the cause was already there.
I myself have used this drug for many many years, initially I suppose i’d have to say that yes, it was recreational, in later years though, I have used it to help me relax. When i’m relaxed, the excrutiating pain I often feel is less, or maybe it’s just that I don’t care when iv’e had a ‘joint’
Either way, the overall findings of the researchers on that programme found that Cannabis in itself, does not! lead people onto more stronger, harder drugs. It’s more of a personal thing, and having an addictive personality, Cannabis in itself, was found not guilty.

No doubt it’ll be on again, watch it and judge then for yourself
14 February, 2009 at 5:35 pm #389624I’m always slightly surprised at the wide variety of excuses cannabis users come up with to ‘justify’ their use of this illegal drug.
You’d think that the entire medical profession, with all their hundreds of years of accumulated wisdom and in depth knowledge of analgesia, know nothing when compared with a cannabis user’s unequivocal statement that “medecine is useless” and “the only thing that controls my pain” is sitting down and smoking a joint or two.
Yeah … right on man!!!!!

15 February, 2009 at 2:42 pm #389626The major problems from cannabis is the effect upon the developing brain, most of us in here now are at an age of brain meltdown rather than it developing.
Skunk may be 25 times stronger than the bit of weed experienced by many of us as teenagers, there is nothing natural about it any more.
As with all drugs they will bring out any incidence of underlying mental health issues, but they do help people relax and cope with life to a certain extent. Alcohol, cigarettes, gambling and chatting online are all coping strategies for many people. They produce feel good chemicals in the brain.
I cant start my day without 3 cups of coffee, another potential class C drug of the future!!
