I have lots of memories from around the time I was somewhere between 2 and 3. I remember my sister and I burying a bee in the wasteground just beyond our house. We made a little cross for it and everything.
I can remember sitting at the kitchen table, writing my name and my sister being so delighted she hugged and kissed me and ran shrieking round the room.
I can remember sitting on my mum’s knee watching a thunderstorm out of the window…. a really big one.. and counting from the flashes of lightening until the rolls of thunder came. I have never been frightened of thunderstorms, and I expect that was why.
I remember climbing, with my siblings, up the handles of our tallboy, out the bedroom window, along the top of the garden walls, down into the garden, then running round to do it all again. We still have that piece of furniture in the family, and the handles are so loose they spin round and round!
I remember my sister taking me over a concrete bridge carrying pipes etc. over a railway line. It was only about 2 feet wide, we were half way over and a train went underneath! She’d done it for a dare, and when we got over to the other side, we had to get back again! I don’t remember being frightened at all though, I was with my big sister, and had complete faith in her.
