This would be entirely reasonable and logical IF Maddie was REALLY abducted by a mysterious stranger.

IF this is so then the this orchestrated campaign to ”find Maddie” is nothing more than a charade designed and intended to divert attention away from their actions.

Regarding the sightings that have been reported – there’s a letter in today’s Daily Record about how the potential kidnappers could have gone elsewhere by the time those who take photos etc return home. So here’s what this person/idiot suggests:

Get a close enough look to make absolutely certain it’s her (you achieve that how exactly? Just say ‘Excuse me, I don’t think that child’s yours – may I take a closer look and while I’m here can I see her birth certificate just so that I’m certain I’m not making a stupid mistake?’) then snatch her and run away to the nearest police station, which could be miles away if you’re in the middle of nowhere.

You wonder why nobody else thought of that, don’t you :roll: ?

It’s possible, unlikely but possible. But I don’t know where this idea of snatching random children off the street cos you think you’re doing the right thing comes from. What sort of logic goes into that? Did it not occur to this person that if he/she did just that and it turned out to be a case of mistaken identity, the parents would be fretting, the child would most probably be terrified and in their defense, they’re gonna say ‘Well, you’ve got to admit there is a similarity’

As much as I think one or both of the MCanns might be guilty I think this is nothing more respectable than mud slinging

As I recall he didnt claim he suspected someone was in the room at the time, merely that “on reflection” it was a possibility because of the open door that wasnt thought to have been open to start with

Irrespective of the guilt or innocence of the MCanns I think both the British and Portugeuse press ought to be investigated for their handling and reporting of this occurence as its been totally unprofessional to say the least
