Today, the leaders of the opposition parties meet to discuss whether they can find a unified approach to stopping the disaster of a No-Deal Brexit.

The majority of the country is against such a Brexit. Most polls see 40 to 44% either openly supporting or ready to tolerate such a policy in the hope that the issue can be finally put behind us – fat chance of that!

A referendum would see it decisively rejected

Parliament is against a no-deal Brexit.

The Labour and Trade Union movement are almost universally united in their opposition to a No-Deal Brexit.

But the likelihood of a No-Deal Brexit disaster is very high. Boris the Liar is leading a government which will ruthlessly use every means – constitutional and unconstitutional – at its disposal to push it through.

The Opposition will need to be equally ruthless and united if it’s to stop No-Deal. it’s not going to be easy.

However, for the sake of us all, it can only be hoped that the next couple of weeks will see this happen, or Johnson will win.

    Ge

I post on things like this in the same way that a silkworm spins silk.

Yes, you do, don’t you, but you don’t ever type anything anyone doesn’t already know, do you. You just repeat yourself over and over and over again.

You can’t even quote Rene Girard in context, but that is par for the course with you.

Martin, while you are sorting the trolls out, please sort out this little silkworm as well.

    The usual troll.

If you don’t want to discuss this, then shut up and ignore it.

Otherwise you just underline what I was actually saying by mentioning Girard.

I’m sure you can contact Martin and ask for my removal for opposing your beloved Brexit. If he agrees, I’ll be gone.

Hold on, in one breath you defend trolls on the other thread and in the next breath immediately call me one on this thread. As I have already stated publicly, in my opinion, you are a far worse abuser than any of those recently banned.

That’s your go to abuse isn’t it Geoffrey, you quoted a random author out of context and rather than back up your googled knowledge you immeditaly dish out the “troll” label, or the “nazi” label, or the “racist” label, or the “xenophobic” label, to dehumanize and alienate other contributors, ironically exactly what ” Rene Girard” specifically referred to, but of course you wouldn’t know that would you.

Cry those crocodile tears and make it all about you because other people have been stealing your thunder.

    Boo hoo.

    This short deserves a medal.

Lord Snooty is missing, but Boris dressed as a baby in swaddling clothes alone is a gem.

Because Mr Silkworm is now putting his finger in his ears and chanting la la la la (for those interested) he misquoted Rene Girard out of context on the other thread AND in fact Rene Girard’s “mimetic theory” could be attributed accurately to anything this man types on these boards but particularly in relation to “Brexit”.

I am elated those nasty posters were removed. Thank all whom did that. They were attacking characters of individual people on lies, mistruths, totally unstable people who yes hurt many even if we do or not have tuff skins. Worse form of abuse I have seen written in some time.

Political views, and religious views can be strong passions for some. We never some times see eye to eye. Lol note I first said “Never.” Political leaders, religious leaders are attacked due to some one or others passions, fears, paranoia, instability of a proposal of upset in life daily needs if eventual or not. A built in mechanism of our mind that not secure, insecurity and uncertainty scares all in some form. Again, some can handle flow..just go with it..and others openly defend for stability.

Tuff thing to discuss on friendly basis when passions strong. Just saying..

    Thanks, Linda.

Good point and well taken – by me, anyway.

The problem is that they can be too important to let alone.

My hope – not always met  – is that if you’re gong to get personal or disruptive of argument etc, you should just shut up and ignore the politics posts.

And I hope that our deep and passionate disagreements on Trump have not led to personal antagonism between the two of us.
