    Tom

I had to laugh when I heard “Call me Dave” Camerloon spout a load of empty sh*te about a war on Gadaffi.

Has our great white leader forgotten a tiny, little miniscule iddy bit of information?

WE HAVE NO F*CKING MILITARY! He’s scrapped our flagship, half of our destroyers, and all of our harriers!

Gadaffi must be shaking in his boots. David Cameron is coming after him in a fleet of rubber dingies and a swarm of paper aeroplanes!

I’ve never had nowt against old Gadaffi anyway. If anything, we should be helping him.

The sheer incongruesness of this no-fly zone when compared to other civil wars is amazing.

For some reason we never managed it in Rwanda

like the man said on Question Time………..let them fight their own wars which will turn into revolutions…….why should we be there when our military is being down sized?

Oh gee – don’t you just love politicians and their sad mixed up reasons for doing things.

Cameron is sending the Tornados from Lossiemouth while he still has them – Lossiemouth being the base he is just about to close because they don’t vote Tory up there. (He could choose to close another but it’s a Lib Dem/Tory marginal.) Isn’t that just after he decided to close Kinloss, a few miles down the road, because we don’t need maritime surveillance any more cos the world is a much safer place now?

He says we can’t afford all of this warfare, then goes round the Middle East with a gang of arms dealers to promote British business. We can sure afford other people’s warfare and then step in and slap them when it looks embarasing.

Not saying that stopping the ol Colonel killing his own people with heavy arms isn’t wrong, but have you seen the horror of other civil wars in Africa, the powerful and moral nations of world have just ignored, including Zimbabwe, where we were just the tiniest bit involved in the past?

Not necessarily wrong just morally inconsistent. And we expect other “less civilised” nations to follow our lead.

    Geez.

Never mind Libya, what about Switzerland? – surely we should be imposing a ‘no-sailing zone’ there until we get the names of all the holders of anonymous bank accounts there.

    You make good points.

I mean the guy is a dangerous and sociopathic, and he is killing his own citizens.

I have everything against Colonel G and I don’t think it’s always wrong to intervene, I just wish that we were better prepared and a bit more consistent when we went in like this. Defending a moral position would be easier if we and the UN also intervened in other massacres like Rwanda.

My post only questioned the mixed up reasons for doing it. As long as we keep it limited, stay out of the country and withdraw to let Libya decide, we might this time do more good than harm.

But it’s a risky, risky game, and we are in no position to be anyone’s conscience.

For those interested in the whole Libyan issue – together with the wider ramifications of recent events there – do have a gander at this if you can..
