It is designed to reduce smoking in those under age and under 21- ultimately it will put some older smokers off too
You have a license to watch TV, a license to drive your car- why not have a license for something which is recognisably dangerous to your health and those around you
17 February, 2008 at 7:21 am #312915Certainly a tenner licence would’nt make a difference. It’s only the cost of two packets of fags.
A £100 licence would’nt make a difference. Maybe a £1000 licence would make some people ponder, but if people dont want to stop then they would find the money somehow.Smokers are addicts. I was one. It’s harder to kick smoking than to kick Heroin. To even imagine that a tenner licence would make someone stop is laughable.

Yeah and how many people do you know who are put off watching tv because they have to buy a licence?…….none.
Why not go the whole hog and force people to buy individual alcohol permits as well  ffs if people want to smoke in their own homes (as they CANT now do it in public places) then thats their choice surely. Thats my opinion and im a NON smoker!

17 February, 2008 at 12:43 pm #312918Do you know how cigarette packets carry warnings like “smoking kills” and “smoking causes impotency” etc. Why is it that beer cans dont have simliar labels? :? Bizarre isnt it.
