British singers with put-on American accents

Lots of British rock and pop singers used to sing with a put-on American accent – presumably because it was cool to do so in the 60’s and early 70’s. Elton John is one singer who has soldiered on with a fake American singing accent right up to now.

But I heard a song by Toploader, and the singer uses as sort of Elton John style American accent. Is this the last British act to use adopt the American singing accent, I wonder?
