I have seen the SAW films as well. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about so downloaded them..
*soap box warning* the brit film industry is seriously under financed. and more so in Scotland where we have made some GREAT films in past few years, My name is Joe, Magdalene Sisters to name but 2. it all depends on arts council funding. The S.A.C will give money to novelty things through lottery funding. But film makers have a hard time and tend to rely on the kindness of pals etc, to appear in their work Gratis. Equitys hands are tied,, as they even realise the only experience certain actors are getting is by freebies. Used to be the case ya could NOT touch a project without getting equity fees. Like all unions, equity is floundering. **
7 August, 2008 at 11:48 pm #360082Its a terrible situation isnt it?
Jobbing actors have a hard enough time as it is, and if you present a film for funding if it isnt “arty” enough, or not of whatever the current trends are you’ve no chance.
