strange that comment box can have a ‘like’ tick box but not a ‘dislike’ ? not keen on certain attitudes expressed though agree right to give point of views they feel they want to express. right or wrong leaving EU. unless Uk actually follows the voting ..then there is no real democracy and no point voting again. you may hate the way vote went but to set aside result is to set aside the struggles that occurred to get a fair voting system and allow females to vote etc. its Not all about economics . ( if it was maybe we ought to me a member state of USA?) there are no winners here.
Agreed, there are no winners here.
If people stopped Brexit against the wishes of the people (and there’s no majority in Parliament for that), they would be destroyed at an election, and Brexit would be the end-result. That could eventually happen, but it’s not going to turn on whether you agree or not with Brexit as such.
It’s going to turn on no-deal, which is a particular interpretation of Brexit. Many Brexiteer MPs are anti-No Deal. If the majority of the people are pro no-deal, then we will have no-deal – sooner or later.
But what Johnson and the hardline no-dealers may be preparing is the opposite of democracy.
If they try a coup by preventing parliament making a decision on no-deal, they no longer have the democratic legitimacy conferred by the referendum.
Let’s see how it goes.
24 July, 2019 at 12:23 am #1118051Oh the Irony 🥴🤫
I genuinly laughed when I read this thread.
Excellent news to finally have a Brexiter in charge of ‘Brexit’ and who will appoint ‘Brexiters’ to conduct the negotiations. Boris political career is now hinging on his delivery of Brexit just as it did for the Maybot and Cameron who jumped ship.
Of course though it is still a small part of a much broader picture that is currently being played out in British politics and in Europe and in America. Including the new leader of the Lib Dems who has indicated she will not go into coalition with Corbyn.
No need however to type the same lines and mini me essays that have been typed over the past three years.
Is there…

I am a socialist Cleared2Land. I also supported Brexit as did the vast bulk of the union movement and the left (some would say far left). When I say left I don’t mean the liberal class “centrists” who have infested labour and watered down what labour stood for to such an extent it betrayed the working class from which it was born.
It is an interesting time in British politics just like it is over there in the USA, what emerges now will be fascinating.
24 July, 2019 at 1:11 am #1118057Ge goes to the same barbers
and also throws a ball like this
Now this man speaks up for our country
Yet if I had a choice I would prefer this man to run our country

The weaker the argument, the more the insults. Then it becomes an ego trip. Not worth pursuing.”

Just to help you out, this was the ironic part !!Lol

Ah, ok, thank you for the clarification. I did mean the congrats in the context of Brexit, but I do apologize if I have otherwise offended you. 🙂

You haven’t offended me at all Cleared2Land. All I care about is the delivery of Brexit and if Boris delivers it all the better.
