If it’s any comfort, you would know if something really bad had happened to your mate. Even if it was ‘killed while slipping on a banana” or some such idiot excuse. I’ve known some Arabs who disappeared and I’ll never know what happened. One guy was an Iraqi exile from Saddam about 1980. With all due respect, I wouldn’t know if anything ‘really bad’ happened at all !!  I also knew there was a risk of this happening. I don’t understand why you think I would ‘ know’ , as you don’t know any details and I deliberately didn’t give any….. for my own reasons.
