9 February, 2008 at 4:57 pm #311031Its my nan’s birthday soon too..i’ve bought her a pot plant with miniature daff bulbs growing in it and a marks and sparks voucher.
Does the job nicely. Old people like plants..something for them to watch and look after while they sit and watch take the high road or howards way.
11 February, 2008 at 2:37 pm #311032did someone mention “high road” :) tis no longer with us im afraid..We have River City now which is more exciting, where high road was couthy,”city” is more about scandal, drug taking and prostitution :) we even have a bloke with syphillis, gangters,an amnesiac back from the dead and the divine Adams family :)
Tuesday nights have never been so gooood !

My gran is 80 next week. Doesnt want anything, doesnt need anything. Thats great, but makes it extremely hard to buy her a nice “special” present!
She likes shopping, watching telly, gossiping, washing and cleaning.
We are taking her out for a nice meal at tea time because even though she is fitter than a fiddle she is diabetic and likes to eat at regular times.
But what gift can I get her? Any ideas greatfully received. 8)
There you go.. THE MEAL can be her present! :D Followed by a couple of male strippers! Don’t thank me! I’m glad to be of service.
11 February, 2008 at 11:09 pm #311034Thanks woo hoo
16 February, 2008 at 12:44 am #311035Well…. thanks for all the ideas.
The birthday dinner went well down at the local carvery.. gran asked for a glass of tapwater with ice  and never drank it  but she injected her stuff for her diabetes and sat down to a very fresh and hearty meal, which made us all happy.
We got her two silver jewellery boxes, very stylish and she loves polishing things so she was well chuffed with those.
Mum got her a heavy gold bracelet, and sister got her a nice gold chain with “nan” in a heart.
So she has stuff to put in her new special jewellary boxes anyway lol
But what went down the best was the poem that a lil scottish friend on here gave me (we all know who that was lol).
Honestly… Ruby your a star. All I gave Rubes was a few hints about her life, her likes and her loves and she came up with gold.
I wrote it out in caligraphic (spl) handwriting with my posh pen my mum got me for christmas (I was always the kid at school with the pencil case worth invading… Ive a passion for stationery and such) and I rolled it up and wrapped a ribbon around it, and read it out to her before we ate.
The whole family (all 8 of them) were in laughter…. it was sooooo her….mum wants a copy, and gran is going to get it framed.
I told her it came from my wee scots friend on the net…. she said “isnt the internet wonderful…. in the name of the wee man… thats braw”
I think she had the best birthday ever, and Im forever greatful.
Rubes will HATE this thanks being made in public, but I had to do it.
Thankyou…. you wonderful and HONEST friend. May you remain the same forever and shine brightly my wee scots lass xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 8)
