Brighton councillor Ben Duncan sorry over rape tweet
This bemused me no end.
Firstly, it should be obvious to any sane person that his tweet was meant tongue in cheek, with the inference that he would be no more likely to smoke cannabis than he would be to murder, rape or loot.Secondly…why is everyone up in arms because he made a light-hearted comment that included rape in the sentence? Don’t get me wrong, rape is a serious matter and I don’t find any humour in it at all. It bemuses me though that people are taking umbrage at him being light-hearted about rape but no-one has taken umbrage at him being light-hearted about murder and looting? Are they somehow less serious than rape? :?
Before long all we’ll hear from people in the public eye is dry and extremely politically correct comments with no hint of a personality or sense of humour for fear of being found to be human…heaven forbid!

I once had a message board debate with Yoda about something or other and was reminded (by Pip) about Yoda’s disability.
Her disability had absolutely nothing to do with the discussion we were having but it didn’t stop others joining in and deciding – quite wrongly – that Yoda had a right to win the debate because she was in a wheelchair.2 May, 2012 at 11:08 am #495074I wasnt even aware that yoda was in a wheelchair. Her humour and intelligence are the things that shine thru.

2 May, 2012 at 4:02 pm #495076I agree with you Jen, political correctness will soon stop us all from having an opinion we dare express. I hate spin too….. I dont doubt this guy is suffering more because of his politics rather than what he actually said…its just another political point scoring exercise. People will make a story out of anything these days :D
