If we all wanted to voice what made us feel “insecure” and “unsafe” good god we’d be here forever…… but in essence of this thread my personal preference and how I “feel”… I would much rather sit next to someone wearing a burkah then someone carrying a dagger.

Would you be able to see a dagger, a machine gun or a suicide belt under a Burkha?

All of the above could be concealed in many ways other than the burkah, would you suspect what appeared to be a heavily pregnant woman with a loose fitting dress, or a nun or priest with their long frocks? The more we consider this, the more we can see it is fear mongering and perhaps Islamaphobic.
12 November, 2010 at 9:01 am #453970As an atheist I am not sure I have a right to an opinion, but I googled burkha, quite interesting actually – says there is evidence that it originated from the arabs and persians!
I haven’t the time to read it all now, but anyone know if the Islamics have arranged marriages? If they do, then I think it is unfair – just a thought.

I was hoping for peoples personal opinions on what I asked.
Can’t be much more on google about the Burkah that there was so much to read. Same as arranged marriages.
Most muslims I know have arranged marriages. They marry within families as close as first cousins.
Personaly I think it’s wrong because of the genetic problems that occur.
I have a friend who married her first cousin. Infact her sister married his brother also.
She has three children all with health problems due to their DNA being so closely matched. Her oldest son used to go to the dentist every week when the kids were at school. He had a defect with his gums/teeth which she told me the dentist said it was a defect due to her having a child with someone with alike DNA. Her second son and daughter also have defects. Somthing I am not going to say.
Needless to say my friend said she would never make her kids marry their cousins. And if you think about it, if her children married her sisters kids…how close is that? Both sets of parents on either side related! This is also a common thing. Brothers marrying sisters.12 November, 2010 at 9:32 am #453973Check out the old testament, it’s loaded lol

Lots are forced Gaz, I think you know. We hear time and time again young girls barely left school whipped off to Pakistan to find they are going to marry a cousin. Most of the muslims I know have had arranged marriages. Infact I know one muslim woman..my age…had an arranged marriage at the age of 16, unfortunately divorced at the age of 35 to be forced into another arranged marriage to another cousin. Quite bizarre. And this young woman was born in this country and went to school here.
Having said that things are changing I hope. One of my friends daughter, Sikh, married a muslim boy. Now thats progress!! :lol:12 November, 2010 at 10:57 am #453975One of my friends daughter, Sikh, married a muslim boy. Now thats progress!!
I bet their families aren’t happy! I know changing faiths n stuff is what they used to have to do, to be accepted. Dunno now?!
