The boys of summer – Ataris [Originally performed by Don Henley]
Nobody on the road
Nobody on the beach
I feel it in the air
The summer’s out of reach
Empty lake, empty streets
The sun goes down alone
I’m drivin’ by your house
Though I know you’re not at homeBut I can see you-
Your brown skin shinin’ in the sun
You got your hair combed back and your sunglasses on, baby
And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong
After the boys of summer have goneI never will forget those nights
I wonder if it was a dream
Remember how you made me crazy?
Remember how I made you scream
Now I don’t understand what happened to our love
But babe, I’m gonna get you back
I’m gonna show you what I’m made ofI can see you-
Your brown skin shinin’ in the sun
I see you walkin’ real slow and you’re smilin’ at everyone
I can tell you my love for you will still be strong
After the boys of summer have goneOut on the road today, I saw a black flag sticker on a cadillac
A little voice inside my head said, “don’t look back. you can never look back.”
I thought I knew what love was
What did I know?
Those days are gone forever
I should just let them go but-I can see you-
Your brown skin shinin’ in the sun
You got that top pulled down and that radio on, baby
And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong
After the boys of summer have goneI can see you-
Your brown skin shinin’ in the sun
You got that hair slicked back and those wayfarers on, baby
I can tell you my love for you will still be strong

Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit lonely and you’re never coming round
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit tired of listening to the sound of my tears
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit nervous that the best of all the years have gone by
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit terrified and then I see the look in your eyes
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and then I fall apart
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and then I fall apartTurnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit restless and I dream of something wild
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit helpless and I’m lying like a child in your arms
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit angry and I know I’ve got to get out and cry
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit terrified but then I see the look in your eyes
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and then I fall apart
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and then I fall apartAnd I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you’ll only hold me tight
We’ll be holding on forever
And we’ll only be making it right
Cause we’ll never be wrong together
We can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time
I don’t know what to do and I’m always in the dark
We’re living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
I really need you tonight
Forever’s gonna start tonight
Forever’s gonna start tonightOnce upon a time I was falling in love
But now I’m only falling apart
There’s nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
Once upon a time there was light in my life
But now there’s only love in the dark
Nothing I can say
A total eclipse of the heartTurnaround bright eyes
Turnaround bright eyesTurnaround, Every now that I know you’ll never be the boy you always wanted to be
Turnaround, Every now and then I know that you’ll always be the only boy that wanted me the way that I am
Turnaround, Every now and then I know that there’s no one in the universe as magical and wonderful as you
Turnaround, Every now and then I know there’s nothing any better there’s nothing that I just wouldn’t do
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and then I fall apart
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and then I fall apartAnd I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you’ll only hold me tight
Well be holding on forever
And we’ll only be making it right
Cause we’ll never be wrong together
We can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time
I don’t know what to do and I’m always in the dark
We’re living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
I really need you tonight
Forever’s gonna start tonight
Forever’s gonna start tonightOnce upon a time I was falling in love
But now I’m only falling apart
Nothing I can doA total eclipse of the heart
Once upon a time there was light in my life
But now there’s only love in the dark
Nothing I can say
A total eclipse of the heart
A total eclipse of the heartTurn around bright eyes

Turn around23 January, 2006 at 12:22 pm #184688Hi Beattie, you answered my previous message as I was editing it so you have quick fingers or good cut ‘n’ paste skills or both. Anyway, soz to hear about you losing 6 friends all at once and I do appreciate now why you made the original post. However, is a Bonnie Fecking Tyler song meant to cheer us all up????? I don’t think so!! How about that ‘I’m a Barbie Girl’ song or something similar – aren’t they from your neck of the woods?
23 January, 2006 at 4:42 pm #184689thanks :D
I’m not actually that depressed as it might seem. I doing fine concidering the situation. Feeling pretty hopefull. This past year has tought me a lot and I’ve changed quite a bit. If you’ve ever heard that Tim McGraw’s song it’s in a way how I feel. I’ve realized that we can go anytime so ‘you have to live like you were dyin’… and make the most of your life :Dand actually that Player song was supposed to cheer us all up (you should hear it!), but the I heard that Bonnie’s song and I totally love it…
24 January, 2006 at 2:50 pm #184690Cometh the hour, Cometh the song:
ERNIE Benny Hill
You could hear the hoof beats pound
As they raced across the ground
And the clatter of the wheels
As they spun round and round
And he galloped into Market Street
His badge upon his chest
His name was Ernie
And he drove the fastest milkcart in the westNow Ernie loved a widow
A lady known as Sue
She lived all alone in Linley Lane
At number twenty two
They said she was too good for him
She was haughty, proud and chic
But Ernie got his cocoa there
Three times every week
They called him Ernie (Ernie)
And he drove the fastest milkcart in the westShe said she’d like to bathe in milk
He said alright sweetheart
And when he finished work one night
He loaded up the cart
He said you wanted pasturised
Coz pasturised is best
She says Ernie I’ll be happy
If it comes up to me chest
And that tickled old Ernie (Ernie)
And he drove the fastest milkcart in the westNow Ernie had a rival
An evil looking man
Called Two Ton Ted from Teddington
And he drove the bakers van
He tempted her with his treacle tarts
And his tasty wholemeal bread
And when she saw the size
Of his hot meat pies
It very near turned her head
She nearly swooned at his macaroon
And he said now if you treat me right
You’ll have hot rolls evry morning
And crumpets every night
He knew once she’d sampled his layer cake
He’d have his wicked way
And all Ernie had to offer
Was a pint of milk a day
Poor Ernie (Ernie)
And he drove the fastest milkcart in the westOne lunchtime Ted saw Ernie’s horse and cart outside her door
It drove him mad to find it was still there at half past four
And as he leaped down from of his van
Hot blood through his veins did course
And he went across to Ernie’s cart
And he didnarf kick his horse
Who’s name was Trigger (Trigger)
And he pulled the fastest milkcart in the westNow Ernie rushed out into the street
His goldtop in his hand
He said if you want to marry susie
You’ll fight for her like a man
Oh why don’t we play cards for her
He sneeringly replied
And just to make it interesting
We’ll have a shilling on the side
Now Ernie dragged him from his van
And beneath the blazing sun
They stood there face to face
And Ted went for his bun
But Ernie was to quick
Things didn’t go the way ted planned
And a strawberry flavoured youghurt
Sent it spinning from his hand
Now Sue she ran between them
And tried to keep them apart
And Ernie pushed her aside
And a rock cake caught him underneath his heart
And he looked up in pained surprise
As the concrete hardened crust
Of a stale pork pie caught him in the eye
And Ernie bit the dust
Poor Ernie (Ernie)
And he drove the fastest milkcart in the westErnie was only fifty-two, he didn’t want to die
Now he’s gone to make deliveries
In that milkround in the sky
Where the customers are angels
And ferocious dogs are banned
And a milkmans life is full of fun
In that fairy dairy land
But a woman’s needs are many fold
And Sue she married Ted
But strange things happened on their wedding night
As they lay in their bed
Was that the trees a rustling
Or the hinges of the gate
Or Ernies ghostly goldtop a rattling in their crate
They won’t forget Ernie (Ernie)
And he drove the fastest milkcart in the west25 January, 2006 at 6:28 am #184691=D> =D> =D>
25 January, 2006 at 8:09 pm #184692Hope i hav’nt ruined this thread, just thought i would put a song that brings back memories of mum dear mum!!
If Tomorrow Never Comes……
Sometimes late at night
I lie awake and watch her sleeping
She’s lost in peaceful dreams
So I turn out the lights and lay there in the dark
And the thought crosses my mind
If I never wake up in the morning
Would she ever doubt the way I feel
About her in my heartIf tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way to show her every day
That she’s my only one
And if my time on earth were through
And she must face the world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comesIf tomorrow never comes
‘Cause I’ve lost loved ones in my life
Who never knew how much I loved them
Now I live with the regret
That my true feelings for them never were revealed
So I made a promise to myself
To say each day how much she means to me
And avoid that circumstance
Where there’s no second chance to tell her how I feelSo tell that someone that you love
Just what you’re thinking of
If tomorrow never comes26 January, 2006 at 6:28 am #184693Go a head paddypower69, sing if you feel like it :)

26 January, 2006 at 6:54 am #184694I can’t sing but I’ve had a Guinness or three so here goes…..
THROUGH MY SAILS
Still glaring from the city lights
Into paradise I soared
Unable to come down
For reasons I’d ignored.Total confusion,
Disillusion
New things I’m knowin’.I’m standing on the shoreline
It’s so fine out there
Leaving with the wind blowing
But love takes care.Know me, know me
Show me, show me
New things I’m knowin’.Wind blowing through my sails
It feels like I’m gone
Leaving with the wind blowing
Through my sails.(Words by Neil Young from the album Zuma)
