Strange but true story in this morning’s paper.
A Manchester man died from picking his nose, a Coroner’s inquest was told this week.
“There is no other explanation other than he died from a nosebleed, consistent with picking his nose” said the Coroner who recorded a verdict of death by misadventure.
So why am I posting such an odd, if not downright silly, piece of news you ask? Well it is part of our ongoing service to our members, where we seek to warn them of the dangers of ‘harmless’ activities, such as picking your nose.
After all, how many of you feel an occasional urge to have a discreet little ”pick” eh? Nobody is looking … furtively glance around to make sure …. then up the nose with your finger and …. ahhhhhh ….. delight …. got another bogey out !!!
Well be warned !!! This seemingly innocent pastime, enjoyed discreetly by hundreds of thousands every day, is potentially life threatening.
Remember ….. picking your nose – especially in Manchester – could be the last thing you ever pick.

Is there a certain place in Manchester where you shouldn’t “Pick It” or doesn’t that matter?
I’m so glad i don’t know this man, because i’d find it hard keeping a straight face at the wake..
6 December, 2008 at 6:12 pm #387741I’m not clear on whether the moral of the story is that you shouldn’t pick your nose anywhere …. or just in Manchester.
I’ve heard it said that Mancunians are a bunch of nosepickers, so maybe this habit is more prevalent there than elsewhere in the UK.
I guess the bast thing when next you see a bleeding Mancunian, is to ask him if he’s been picking his nose.
