So the general concensus is then:
That they’re not supposed to … but they do (catholic priests and muslim men included)
Its awfull isnt it
17 May, 2010 at 12:46 pm #440216Yes it is awful…that muslim men expect their women to cover up from head to toe, not talk to other men and so on, yet they feel free to ogle other women. Double standards or what

Welcome to the real world
17 May, 2010 at 12:49 pm #440218No not awful.. just human nature. Tis why I dislike being preached to and I’m not fond of hypocrisy either. I still take the stance that it is each induviduals right to pratice whatever religion, belief, activity (sexual or otherwise) they wish… just as long as the don’t try and enforce it on others or make others feel lesser beings for not conforming nor condoning their belief.
So : Each to their own i guess
17 May, 2010 at 12:50 pm #440219Well then ban the burka, let other men ogle at their wives and see how they like it….oh we seem to have come full circle with many tangents along the way

For a woman to suggest the removal of a womans right to wear the clothing of her choice strikes me as strange…

No Gaz.. you’re missing the point.. Jen is merely saying that women should have the right to choose….. you forget that many women that wear it do so because the men in their families insist they do so… I concede that some wear it by choice….. but i sincerely believe that this minority do so out of fear instilled in them from an early age.
As for security: No they should not be allowed to remain covered… hoodies and helmets are now banned from numerous places and we have not taken to the streets in protest, we accept that at certain times not being able to see someones face is not appropriate regardless of their faith or belief…… although saying that some fuglys should really consider it ( my feeble attempt to lighten up)

Ahh i see, jens quote was suggesting we ban it so that non muslim men can ogle their women…………… I kind of sensed some humour it that comment !!
Don’t compare my quotes with Jens……oddly although I agree with her sentiments most of the time….. I do have a mind of my own !
