I wonder if the muslim men use such restraint and refrain from ogling other women apart from their wives? Or maybe they think its ok to ogle because other women are not covered from head to toe, if this is so, then it goes along the lines of …if a woman wears a mini skirt and low top she’s asking for it…
Shame there are no muslim men here to give us their opinions.Gaz you apparantly know many muslim women as stated and as far as I’m aware if the women you know wear Burka’s as you say, they would adhere to many strict muslim rules like not speaking to men or associating with men who are not relatives, so I pressume you speak to their husbands and family. Do you know the answer to what I’ve written above? I’m sure you didn’t deliberately ignore it.

Oh they do
17 May, 2010 at 11:43 am #440191Muslim women are not forbidden from going out in the community, working, or visiting relatives and female friends, if there is no objection from their guardian/husband and they are covered and behave and speak according to Islamic guidelines and, if necessary, escorted by their Mahram (a close male relative). However, a woman’s home should be the main base that she works from. Allah (SWT) instructed the wife’s of the Prophet (SAW):
“O wives of the Prophet! You are not like any other women. If you keep your duty (to Allah), then be not soft in speech, lest he is whose heart is a disease (of hypocrisy or evil desire for adultery, etc.) should be moved with desire, but speak in an honorable manner. And stay in your houses, and do not display yourselves like that of the times of ignorance, and offer prayers perfectly (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give Zakat and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah wishes only to remove Ar-Rijs (evil deeds and sins, etc.) from you, O members of the family [of the Prophet (SAW)], and to purify you with a thorough purification.” (Al-Ahzab 33:32-33)
Allah (SWT) says in the Quran:
“…As to those women on whose part you see ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (next), refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly, if it is useful), but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance). Surely, Allah is Ever Most High, Most Great.” (An-Nisa’ 4:34)
The Prophet (SAW) said:
“When one of you inflicts a beating, he should avoid striking the face.”
Thats ok then

Believe that was the question :-k
17 May, 2010 at 11:47 am #440193Male modesty has been interpreted to be covering the area from the navel to the knee – and for women it is generally seen as covering everything except their face, hands and feet when in the presence of men they are not related or married to.
thats fair then :?
