So there you have it. Another one for the JC scrap book – a major league complaint made about the wrong person. Everybody jumping on the bandwaggon defending the indefensible. Ah the joys of being a ChatGuide eh?
It’s a bloody miracle that any of them want to do it at all – much less 24/7.
You make good points Jen, especially about giving out personal info. When will they ever learn eh? :roll:
I have sat in the room and watched people telling the whole room all about their most personal problems. This could be anything from personal relationship troubles to their intimate “womens things”. The thing these users can’t seem to grasp is, they arn’t just telling their pals, ie people they have never met, (that’s another story btw and we won’t go there…yet, :lol: ) they are also telling all the “lurkers” who just sit there and watch.
We had a user once who used to come into the room under an assumed name. His trick was to select any female user at random and make notes about things they said in the room. This could be anything from where they lived to what job they had, where their husband worked, even what schools their kids went too.
Once he’d collated all this info he would then come back into the room at a later date to find his “victim” and proceed to tell the user all about herself. Of course the user would be terrified and couldn’t understand where he had got all this info from.
Users, especailly female users, frequently do this type of thing. They give out allsorts of incredibly personal info about themselves into a PUBLIC chat room full of strangers, and then wonder how someone they don’t know has so much personal info about them??
Staff get complaints about this type of thing all the time, but what are they supposed to do about it? If users are stupid enough to volunteer personal info about themselves and their families in a public chat room, then on their own head be it. This kind of thing will come back to bite you on the bum time and time again.There was a user who told the entire room she has an autistic son. Of course the resident loony thought that was hilarious and would come in as “retard” or “spastic”. She of course was outraged and very upset. I can understand that, but it was entirely her own fault for giving such personal info out in the first place.

My least favourite scenario (but one that we come across all too often) is as follows:
Male & female meet in chatroom – they engage in a PC which inevitably leads to some form of …er…. ‘closer relationship’ – they fall madly passionately & deeply in ‘lurve’- female gives male loads of personal information about herself including her mobile number; e-mail addy, and even her private address – several hours later (occasionally a couple of days) female decides that male is not for her and dumps him.
Now here’s the ‘fun’ bit :roll: :roll: :roll: . Male , having been dumped (or publicly swapped for a better endowed / younger male) becomes aggrieved at the loss of his one true lurve in life and proceeds to bombard the female with abuse by way of retaliation for her callous dumping / use of his ‘services’.
You’ll never in a million years guess who get blamed for all this ….. nor will you ever guess who is expected to somehow sort it all out, prevent the abuse; and provide relationship guidance counselling.
The point I was trying to make was I don’t really care about the idiots in the room.. geeezus I’m one of them.. But I’m not nasty or vindictive about it. In every chatroom you see the same old characters again and again.. the chatroom stud that all the women coo over.. the stunning girl every bloke is after.. the comedian.. the idiot.. the look at me attention seeking drama queen ( me) and the nasty tosser/bitch. then you get the wannabes who in real life are most probably nice people but see the attention the nasty tosser/bitch gets and changes their persona to be like them. Then you get the complete weirdo like doa.
All these people love them or hate them make a chat room.
My grievance is with the monotonous scrollers who come in and scroll abuse over and over.. then vanish then come in and do it again.
Surely wouldn’t it be better to leave them in the room and just gag them and let them scroll to themselves.. just open your admin panel and click cookie gag. Yes it’s not a permanent solution gagging someone but at least it gives you time to continue with quiz ect.
What I can’t understand is why the latest cloner/scroller hasnt been banned by the site team?
This scroller the one who ruined the quiz uses the same i.p everytime. and its not even a proxy.. so why oh why cant you just ban his i.p. and report him to telewest.
This obviously hasnt been done as it was in again last night doing the same thing.
Using the exact same i.p again.
Bloody laziness and cant be bothered attitude me thinks.Rant over!
