Is anyone here sick and tired of cyclists on the roads? They piss me off, roads are for cars, you annoying cretins! Get off them!!

Not only do they zoom along the roads at 0.05 miles an hour dressed up like a French prat, but they’ve now started building cyclist lanes on the roads, squashing cars together increasing the chances of accidents. BRILLIANT IDEA – not!

I want to see these criminals banned from the roads. They should have cyclist lanes on footpaths. Not on roads.

Cyclists should wear protective clothing, not Crisp Packets. I had a lot of respect for Cyclists a few years back, seeing them ride along the streets, helping society by being ‘Friendly and Help keeping Emissions down’.

    But, now, they annoy me.

My friend, recently had a crash, which the Cyclist was to blame for.

He was travelling along behind a car, perfectly safe over-taking chance on ‘Wide’ Country lane. In the distance, he saw a light, which in fairness, looked far away. He proceeeded to overtake, and low and behold, it was a Cyclists little light, which wasn’t far away at all, ‘he assumed it to be a motorbike in the distance.’
The Cyclist dodged and came out with a few bumps and bruises, and my friend? A written off car, to avoid hitting the Cyclist and insurance premiums that have risen like mad.

The same goes for Motorcyclists, will cut you up at any chance. Waiting in a traffic queue, a Motorbike will come along, and try and squeeze in, in most cases, sratching your car in the attempt to get by, in standstill traffic. These should definately be banned, or atleast pay a Higher Tax and contribution rather than safer cars.

How many people die on bikes a year? And I’m sure I’m not the only one who gets pestered by 10 year olds, on Mopeds Pulling Wheelies outside your house at night.

Another thing, there are so many protective clothing suits in shops for Motorcycles, along with Leather jackets and padding etc. So, Why do they feel the need to dress up as Power Rangers? :?

I like cycling, I like walking and I like driving my car. But I agree that these three modes of transport do not mix happily. I don’t cycle on main roads because so many car drivers are careless. When I cycle on the canal towpath the pedestrians get in the way and when I walk on the canal towpath the bikes are a nuisance!

We need more cycle tracks beside main roads so that cyclists don’t have to mix it with the motor traffic.

In towns and cities we need more road space dedicated to cyclists and pedestrians and less space for cars. Not the other way round! The 20th century was the ‘century of the motor car’, like the 19th was the century of steam power. We are not sure what the 21st century will be as it has only just started but it’s unlikely to be another ‘century of the motor car’.

Like I say, I’m not against cars – I’ve always been interested in them, my dad was in the management of a what was at the time an independent car manufacturer and I have worked in the past as a heavy goods driver. I’m just saying that we might have peaked in our love affair with the car. Forget global warming – the oil and other fossil fuels are going to become more scarce and that will make motoring more expensive. Biofuels will only go part of the way to making good the shortfall – the same goes for hybrid cars. We will come to rely more on renewable or nuclear power sources, neither of which can be fitted to vehicles! That means we might all be using battery electric cars in the future. With no imminent breakthrough in battery technology that we know of, these cars will still have limited range and / or slow top speed, but they might be the only dish on the menu!

Totally agree, IF they want to use the roads they should have to pass a test, have their eyesight checked, carry insurance, have their “vehicles” MOT’d, pay road tax and have an identifying mark on their bicycle

Cycle lanes are paid for by car users, cycle lanes as with bus lanes cause the mythical congestion the government is using as its new tax raising whinge but most of it is artificially created and deliberately so I reckon SO they can then tax motorists because of it

A cyclist is a pedestrian on wheels, they arent checked for the mental and physical accuity to be on the roads, arent covered should they cause an accident and as such should be where skateboard riders, people on roller skates, babies in pushchairs and other tofu eating gay 5th YMCA’ing village people wanna be’s should be, ON THE PATH!

As mentioned the cycle lanes that cyclists HAVENT paid for through road tax reduce the amount of tarmac available for cars which in many cases has forced a dual carriageway to be reduced to a single lane or has stopped passing a turning vehicle from being possible, despite being empty most of the time they cause congestion

As do the equally empty bus lanes, ridiculous amounts of pedestrian crossing devices, endless supplies of unnecessary traffic lights that hamper rather than help traffic flow, bus stops being right next to a pedestrian crossing island meaning no vehicles can pass when a buss has stopped and endless other”bright ideas” that when combined pull the much whinged about congestion issue out of fresh air as if by magic creating it in excess where theres no need for any to be

    Test cyclists,
Make them get insurance, an MOT, a number plate, AND make them pay road tax and THEN they have the right to use the overpriced under maintained roads the motorists have paid for many hundreds of times over in taxation

Till then fuck em off back onto the path with other wasters and inbred idiots too thick to learn to drive, the fookwit path

Im with Bassingbourne on this. Ive done all three without passing a test!!

Joking aside I think people get stuck in their ways. The more motorists who THINK about not using their car at the weekend and use their bikes or legs might change their opinion.

The problem is we are all in such a rush to get everywhere these days and all think we are a priority, it leaves everybody else in a quandry (or a gutter).

Just chill out for a while!!!!!!!!!!! 8) Take a leaf out of Mary’s book

One thing Bassingbourne.. you say cyclists have not paid to use the roads through tax……….. why the hell should they?

    #277834

BECAUSE they USE the roads DUH!

    Bit obvious that one really

IF you DONT use something its unreasonable to be expected to pay for it, if you DO use it then it isnt unreasonable to be expected to pay for it

A better question is why should non bicycle owning car and motorbike drivers have to foot the bill for millions upon millions of pounds worth of cycle paths that are not only of no use to them, but also hinder them using their cars on the roads they are already over charged for using?

Cyclists contribute nothing towards the roads, as such nothing should be spent on encouraging the tossers to use them, theyre pedestrians, they HAVE contributed towards the footpaths so THATS where they belong

Otherwise lets just stop taxing motorists too, let everyone whether they use the roads or not pay equally for the roads, thats fair innit?

your a total winker matey. ive been riding motorbikes for years and the only people who have to be 3 times as aware of others are bikers, car drivers seem to think they have the god given right to bully, insult and even attempt to push aside anyone who isnt a male in a car, if they werent all driving like 12 year olds playing armies and indians they may actually learn how to drive safeley.
