The global pond’s getting smaller and the fish are getting bigger. The US swim with Asia, and without the EU we’re a minnow.
16 November, 2006 at 6:29 pm #248022Rubbish, you are missing the point, and that is, if we have a product to sell, it doesn’t matter what membership club you belong to, if someone wants to buy it, a deal can be done.
The other major social nightmare about the eu, is that the white liberal extremists are trying to turn England into an eu state within a country called europe, technicly is now, not good enough. The introduction of the metric system being a prime example. This is England, not europe.
If the white extremist liberals continue this way, they will spark a civil war against the patriotic English, they will lose, you will lose, and it will leave this country with an economic headache.
16 November, 2006 at 6:43 pm #248023Decimalisation is a thing of beauty. Prior to decimalisation we had 12 pennies to the shilling and 20 shillings to the £. 12 inches in a foot and 3 feet 3 inches in a yard. 14 ounces in a pound and 16 pounds in a stone. 8 pints in a gallon. WTF was that all about?
emma, just step back and accept that Europe does a lot of things far better than we do.
16 November, 2006 at 7:18 pm #248024Waits for somebody to correct Owen’s interpretation of Imperial measurements.
16 November, 2006 at 7:31 pm #248025Emma, if somebody can buy the same product or similar for less than you can offer it for, then you won’t be in business for long (unless you receive subsidies). Even the USA is trying to establish free-trade areas, so your idea that we can be isolated and have a booming economy is naive.

What planet did you live on owen 3 ft and 3 inches to a Yard ffs
Decimilisation has not worked – we still think in feet and inches MPH MPG Lbs and ounces
17 November, 2006 at 12:03 pm #248027What are we selling, thats worth more than £2.5 billion a year, that we couldn’t do without being in the eu?

Actually Driv, older generations think like that
Anyone under the age of 30 will think in metres n litres- certainly my kids look blank when I discuss yards and feet with them. As generations pass, old measurements, just like the quart n the 2 1/2p coin will simply be a thing of the past
I now work out my MPG in litres (if that makes sense)
