after downloading the new avg version 8 i have been unable to access IE in the normal way if i try and access my e mails via msn or click the IE icon on desktop it opens the blank white window says connecting then stops working freezes etc, but if i right click IE and “run as administrator” it will start up but again freezes on attempting to close it ,been faffing around with it for days now i use firefox generally but IE opens automatically to retrieve e mails via msn and it’s annoying as hell.
any ideas greatfully received
xxand no comments abt how rubbish AVG is thx doa its always done me well lol

Your home page has been changen, your fast windows indexing has been shut down.
All kinds of “stuff” has happen to your computer.
I think the worst thing is that your boardband setting for ie have been f u c k e d up.
But I am not telling you how to fix it. Its soooooo easy its not worth my time telling you how.

15 June, 2008 at 9:58 am #3481911) Use System Restore and ”go back” to a time and date before you downloaded and installed AVG 8.
2) Go into AVG Properties and load the required programmes into the ”safe zone” so that it won’t block access to them.
3) Uninstall AVG altogether and buy a proper anti-virus / firewall utility.
15 June, 2008 at 12:38 pm #348192I wouldn’t get rid of AVG. Coupled with an online scan once in a while it’s every bit as effective as paying for some flashy program.

Unless you like to boast elitist and be a big enough mug to pay for something that does exactly the same thing.

thx though but the required programmes and safe zone means nothing to me lol i did try the restore and starting again but without that bit, maybe i’ll just have to put up with the small inconvenience but thx for the advice :)15 June, 2008 at 1:01 pm #348195Try using Firefox as your default browser instead of IE, always works better for me and I have no probs with AVG.
