When I was a penniless student, I learned how to make my own fresh tomato sauces. So much cheaper than the supermarket version, very easy to cook and to freeze what isn’t used afterwards. I could never buy them in a jar now. Saying that these look delicious and I will steal the recipe of those I am unfamiliar with.
So true SHR, I usually make my own sauces, too.
Having said that, these are a pretty good alternative if you’re in a rush or have a last minute dinner to organise.
They don’t contain any artificial colours or flavours, whereas many others do.
They rely on concentrated tomato paste to give off a bright red colour.
Rest of the ingredients are rigorously fresh , besides sugar, chili powder and citric acid where needed.
